FOUNTAIN
You get a phone call from your boss, Mr
Marson, who’s getting increasingly frustrated about the delays to what should
have been a simple contract with the Voralberg Toy Factory. He wants results!
Look at the beautiful fountain.
Walk left, into Hotel Kronsky.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
HOTEL KRONSKY
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
LOBBY
Watch the cut scene, as the Hotel
Receptionist, Felix Smetana, welcomes you to the Hotel. Work through all the dialogue options with
him. He refuses to give out any information
on the hotel guests, so he won’t confirm if Helena Romanski is staying here or
not. He won’t even tell you if Hans
Voralberg was ever here. If you could
distract him somehow, you might be able to get a look at the Hotel
Registry. Notice that he is engrossed in
the football game showing on the TV - you might be able to use that to your
advantage. Step down, away from the
Reception Desk.
Go down, to the large gate.
This gate separates the Reception Area
from the Guest Area. Try to open the
gate, but it’s locked. Open the cupboard
door to the left of the gate, to see a close-up.
Take DETERGENT from the cupboard,
then exit the close-up.
Walk down to the main part of the
Lobby.
Leave the Hotel through the door on the
right.

LOBBY
Open the red velvet curtains, so you can
see out the window. Walk over to the
Reception Desk again.
Try to talk to Felix again, but he
completely ignores you, because he’s so engrossed in his TV. Ring the bell on the end of the Reception
Desk to get his attention. He sees all
the foam in the fountain outside, and goes to clean it up. This is your chance. Walk behind the Reception Desk.
RECEPTION DESK
Click on the Hotel Registry book, which
is on the desk on the right.
You see a close-up of the desk. Click on the Registry Book again to see a
close-up of it.
Read the book, and flick through the
pages, to see a list of guests. Helena
Romanski has been at this spa twice. She
first came here as a resident on 5\6\1981, and the code for her room was
1270. She came again on 1\10\1981. There’s no departure date, which means she
must still here. Hans Voralberg arrived
on 3\2\1981, and left on 3\28\1985. The
entrance to his room was 1478. Exit the
close-up of the Hotel Registry Book.
Pick up the HOTEL BROCHURE, on
the right of the desk, to see a close-up.
Flip through the pages of the HOTEL
BROCHURE to see the phone number - 464 336 43. Remember that number. Exit the close-up of the HOTEL BROCHURE.
Press the red button on this side of the
desk. This unlocks the gate leading to
the Guest Area. Exit the close-up of the
desk.
Leave the Reception Desk through the gap
at the top left, and return to the Lobby.
LOBBY
Walk left, and then down, to the large
gate.
Open the gate, and go down to the pool
area.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
POOL AREA
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
POOL
The large pool is surrounding by a
corridor, leading all the way around.
Head along the corridor on the
left.
BAR
There’s a bar area here, along with an
automaton. Talk to the automaton, who
introduces himself as James. James is
attached to a wheelchair, and he is a nurse assigned to assist Helena
Romanski. Work through all the dialogue
options with him. He confirms that
Helena Romanski is indeed here at the Hotel, but she is currently out on the
pier, as she is every day at this time.
He also warns you about the salt wind.
There are a lot of similarities between James and Oscar!
When you’ve finished talking to James,
walk down, away from the Bar.
Follow the corridor down to the Dining
Area.
DINING AREA
Look at the door on the right, and try
to open it. It leads out to the pier,
but it’s currently locked. Look at the
Control Panel next to it, to see a close-up.
Enter Helena’s code - 1270 - and pull
the handle. It doesn’t work. Click the left arrow button to clear the
numbers. Enter Hans’s code - 1478 - and
pull the handle. That doesn’t work
either. Exit the close-up.
Continue down the corridor, to the far
side of the pool.
POOL
You’re reached the other end of the
pool.
Click on the door in the back wall.
PRIVATE TABLE
This is a rather secluded area, with
only one table. Take a CRYSTAL DISH from
the table, then head back up to the pool.
POOL
Head to the corridor on the right.
POOL CORNER
Notice the gate on the right, with the seahorse above it.
If you entered
Helena’s room code - 1270 - into the Control Panel at the pier gate, then this
gate will be open. Enter through the
gate, into the Locker Room.
LOCKER ROOM
Pick up the TEMPORARY CODE ACCESS
CARD form the floor, and note that the code is 0968. Exit the close-up.
Leave the Locker Room.
POOL CORNER
Head right, along the pool, to the
Jacuzzi area.
JACUZZI AREA
Ignore the 2 men - they are too busy
with their chess game to talk to you.
Walk to the Jacuzzi on the left.
You can’t do anything with the Jacuzzi
at the moment. Look at the pipes on the
wall at the left. Try to use the pipes -
nothing happens. Go right, back to the 2
men.
Continue up, to the Pool Side.
Follow the corridor up to the Pool
Side.
POOL SIDE
Click on the stairs at the head of the
pool.
POOL
You’ve been all around the pool, and
you’re right back at the start now.
Enter the corridor on the left again.
BAR
Follow the corridor down to the Dining
Area.
DINING AREA
Look at the door on the right, leading
to the pier. It’s still locked. Look at the Control Panel next to the door to
see a close-up.
Enter 0968 into the Control Panel, then
pull the handle. This is the code you
found on the TEMPORARY CODE ACCESS CARD in the Locker Room. Finally, the Pier gate slides open. Go through the gate, into the small
Hallway.
SMALL HALLWAY
Take the GAS MASK that’s hanging
on the wall on the right.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
PIER
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
PIER
Thanks to the GAS MASK, you’re
able to tolerate the salt wind. Follow
the pier along, until you reach the Pavilion.
PAVILION
Enter the Pavilion.
Chat to Helena Romanski. She tells you that she’s ready to return
inside, and asks you to fetch her valet.
This just so happens to be James, the automaton with the wheelchair. Leave the Pavilion.
Before you can do anything, Felix storms
up, and yells at you for disturbing Helena.
However, Helena comes to your defence, telling Felix that you are her
guest, and he is to treat you as such.
After Felix leaves, step down, and leave the Pavilion.
Look carefully at the railing on the
near side, and notice the bell stand, with the bell, hanging on the left.
Click on the bell to see a
close-up.
Pull the chain to ring the bell if you
like, but James is too far away to hear it.
Either that, or he refuses to come this far out on the pier, since it
will damage his wheelworks. Take JAMES’S
BELL from the stand, then exit the close-up.
Go left, to the Pier.
PIER
Head left, and follow the pier along,
until you reach the door leading back to the hotel. But don’t enter the hotel yet.
Look carefully at the railing on the
left, and notice the bell stand.
Click on the bell stand to see a
close-up.
Hang JAMES’S BELL on the bell
stand. Pull the chain to ring the
bell. Exit the close-up.
James still won’t come out. Click on the door and enter the Hotel.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
POOL AREA
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
SMALL HALLWAY
Head down towards the Dining Area. You automatically return the GAS MASK. Again, walk down to the Dining Area.
DINING AREA
Walk up to the Bar.
BAR
Talk to James. He tells you that he’s afraid to go outside,
because of the salty wind. You tell him
that he can wear your gas mask to protect him, and he seems happier after
that. Watch the cut scene, as he goes to
fetch Helena. As you are waiting, you
get a phone call from your Mum. When
James returns with Helena, talk to Helena and work through all the dialogue
options with her. She’s terribly
depressed, because she thinks her singing voice has gone. But if you can’t convince her to sing in
Komkolzgrad, then you’ll never get Oscar’s hands back.
Helena tells you about a Bartender from
France, who goes by the name of George.
Apparently, George used to make fantastic cocktails for her, that helped
her voice. Unfortunately, George never
told her the recipe for the cocktail.
When she learns about Oscar’s existence, she’s keen to meet another
automaton. But her poor health, and her
lost singing voice prevents her from going with you to Komkolzgrad. The only way you can persuade her, is to make
her a cocktail, just like George used to make.
When you’ve finished talking to Helena, SAVE
YOUR GAME HERE. This next section
can be quite confusing. Look at the HOTEL
BROCHURE in your Inventory. Open it,
and take note of the number - 464 336 43.
This number is for the Paris hotel where George the Bartender
works. Pull out your MOBILE PHONE from
your Inventory, and dial 464 336 43.
Sadly, is seems that George the Barman
has long since retired. He did, however,
write down his cocktail recipes before he left.
When the Barman on the phone starts reading out the names of the
cocktails, logic dictates that ‘Blue Helena’ is the cocktail you
need. The Barmen tells you the
ingredients.
- One measure of vodka
- One measure of Blue Curacao
- One measure of honey
- A dash of lime
- Ice cubes
- Shake it all together
Let’s get started then. Enter the Bar area, and open the panel below
Helena.
Take CRYSTALLISED HONEY and take LEMON from the cupboard. Exit the close-up.
Honey is one of the ingredients in the
cocktail, but the honey you have is all crystallised. You’ll have to melt it.
Walk down, away from the Bar.
Head down, and follow the corridor along
to the far end of the pool.
POOL
Enter the corridor on the right.
POOL CORNER
Walk right, to the Jacuzzi.
JACUZZI
The 2 men are still busy with their
chess game. Walk over to the
Jacuzzi.
The Jacuzzi is currently cold. Walk over to the pipes on the wall, and turn
the wheel on the pipes, to heat up the Jacuzzi.
Dip your CRYSTALLISED HONEY into the Jacuzzi to melt it, so it
becomes LIQUID HONEY. Walk right,
away from the Jacuzzi.
Head down to the Pool Corner.
POOL CORNER
Go left, to the far end of the
pool.
POOL
Head left to the Dining Area.
DINING AREA
Walk up to the Bar.
BAR
Enter the Bar.
SAVE YOUR GAME HERE. Click on the
machinery section at the back of the Bar, to see a close-up.
This is, essentially, how you make cocktails - you just have to add the missing ingredients. Place the LEMON on the lemon squeezer at the top left. Place the VODKA in the empty bottle holder at the top right. Place the LIQUID HONEY next to the VODKA, in the empty slot at the top right corner. If your HONEY has crystallised, simply go and warm it up in the Jacuzzi again. Pick up MUSICAL SCORE from the top centre of the machinery.
Look at the MUSICAL SCORE. It might seem confusing at first, but it
refers to the bottles of alcohol, and how to access them.
Now look at the lower part of the
machinery, and mark the keys like so.
Make the Blue Helena cocktail like
this:
- Press the I\O power switch at the bottom
left,
to
turn the machine on
- Make sure the toggle switch at the bottom
right
is
flipped to Left\Bass
- Press Piano Key #2, to add VODKA
- Flip the toggle switch at the bottom
right, to Right\Treble
- Press Piano Key #3, to add Blue Curacao
- Press the honey button (middle button on
the lower right)
- Press the lemon button (3rd
button from the lower right)
- Press the ice button (middle button on
the lower left)
- Press the ‘Shake’ button (bottom
right button on the right)
Helena will drink the drink you made for
her. If you’ve done it correctly, she’ll
start to sing. But she thinks her voice
isn’t powerful enough, and she doesn’t have the confidence to perform in
public. You’ll just have to show her how
good she still is. Place CRYSTAL DISH
on the end of the counter, near Helena.
Click on Helena, and she’ll sing
again. This time, her voice shatters the
CRYSTAL DISH, thus proving how powerful it still is. This gives her the confidence to perform in
public. Watch the cut scene, as she
prepares to go to Komkolzgrad with you.
After the cut scene, step down, away from the bar.
Head up, to the top of the pool.
POOL
Climb up the stairs at the bottom of the
screen, and return to the Hotel Lobby.

LOBBY
Head down to the main part of the
Lobby.
Leave the hotel through the door on the
right.
COURTYARD
Head
right to the Landing Bay.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
AIRSHIP
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
LANDING BAY
Climb up the stairs at the top, and
enter the Airship.
INTERIOR
You get a phone call from your friend
Olivia. She’s acting strangely, and not
really responding to anything you say.
She just changes the subject.
Finally, she confesses that she slept with Dan, and the guilt is killing
her. She’s had a crush on him for ages,
it seems. It’s a shock to hear, and you
need time to process it. Watch the cut
scene as Helena Romanski arrives, and both of you return to Komkolzgrad. Helena’s newfound confidence has made her a
completely different person, and she looks very glamorous.
