DAY 5
============================================================
QUICK NOTE
SAVE YOUR
GAME before entering the Historical Voodoo Museum.
ST GEORGE’S BOOK
SHOP
You arrive at the
shop, where Grace has already opened up for the day. She tells you that a
package arrived for you from Germany. The package contains GUNTER’S
JOURNAL and a WOLFGANG’S LETTER. Examine both of
them in your Inventory. You also get a phone call from Dr
Hartridge. Talk to Grace and ask about the following topics.
- New Orleans
- Request Research
- Investigate Rada drums.
- I can’t think of anything.
End the
conversation with her.
Read the newspaper
on the counter on the left. Get some coffee from the coffee machine on
the counter. Leave the shop, and go outside.
MAP
Go to the Police
Station.
POLICE STATION
Look at the girls
playing with the skipping rope. Enter the Police Station.
Open gate at the
end of the counter. Open Detective Mosely’s door, and enter his
office.
Talk to Detective
Mosely and ask about the following topic.
- Crash’s Death
- Reopen Case
You can’t convince
him to reopen the Voodoo Murders case, unless you can provide evidence that
there’s a genuine Voodoo presence in New Orleans. There’s nothing you can
do yet, so leave his office, and leave the Police Station.
Use your bike to
return to the Map.
MAP
Go to Moonbeam
Residence.
MOONBEAM RESIDENCE
Explore Moonbeam’s
residence - she has many interesting items. Look at the snake cage next
to Moonbeam. Talk to Moonbeam and ask about everything. Make sure
you ask all about Grimwald, her snake, then persuade her to show you how she handles
Grimwald - she’ll demonstrate how she dances with the snake. While she is
dancing, take SNAKESKIN from the cage. In your
Inventory, combine MAGNIFYING GLASS with the SNAKESKIN to
learn that this snake’s scales don’t match the scale you found at the
lake. So Moonbeam’s snake isn’t responsible for the murder at the
lake.
Show VOODOO
CODE SKETCH to Moonbeam. Apparently, the crosses signify Voodoo
code. But it’s a very secret code, and Moonbeam won’t translate it for
you. SAVE YOUR GAME HERE. Show VOODOO CODE
SKETCH to her again, and she tells you to use her ‘Ask The
Loa’ machine. The Loa Machine is on the shelf on the left, near
the large African mask. Use it to get a close-up of it.
The Loa Machine
puzzle is strange. Click on the ‘Start’ button. The
letters spell out the phrase ‘Trusted Friend’, but then they change
again. It’s your job to make the machine show that phrase again, by using
the levers at the bottom. Use the levers as follows.
- Pull Lever 1
- Pull Lever 2
- Pull Lever 3
- Miss Lever 4. Pull Lever 5
- Pull Lever 4 twice
- Pull Lever 5
- Pull Lever 4 twice
- Pull Lever 6
- Pull Lever 7 twice
- Pull Lever 1
- Pull Lever 2 twice
- Pull Lever 8 twice
- Pull Lever 11 twice
- Pull Lever 12
- Pull Lever 11 twice
By passing the Loa
Machine test, you have proven yourself trustworthy. Moonbeam looks at
your VOODOO CODE SKETCH, and is able to translate part of it for
you, which you note down next to the crosses. Examine VOODOO CODE
SKETCH in your Inventory, to see the translated message. When
you’re ready, leave Moonbeam’s Residence.
MAP
SAVE YOUR GAME HERE. Go to
Historical Voodoo Museum.
HISTORICAL VOODOO
MUSEUM
As soon as you
enter, Dr John’s very large snake attacks you! Quickly use the switch on
the wall by the door, before the snake chokes you. You don’t have much
time here, so for convenience, I’ll show you exactly where the switch is.
The switch turns on
the fan above the window, which scares the snake away. Dr John appears,
explaining that the museum is closed today. He doesn’t seem very
apologetic that his snake tried to kill you! You automatically leave the
museum.
MAP
Go to St George‘s
Book Shop.
ST GEORGE’S BOOK SHOP
Grace will pick something off your face, and put it in the ashtray on
her desk. Use MAGNIFYING GLASS with the ashtray, and you
see the SNAKE SCALE. Use TWEEZERS with the
magnified SNAKE SCALE. Look at MUSEUM SNAKE
SCALE in your Inventory. Now in your Inventory, combine MUSEUM
SNAKE SCALE with the LAKE SNAKE SCALE - they’re a
match. So Dr John’s snake from the Voodoo Museum is responsible for the
murder at the lake. Leave the Book Shop.
MAP
Click on the box marked ‘To Greater New Orleans Map’.
Go to Tulane
University.
TULANE UNIVERSITY
Remember the phone
call from Professor Hartridge? Open the door at the left of the stage,
and enter Professor Hartridge’s Office.
You’re shocked to find Professor Hartridge dead! Look at him twice
- his death reminds you of the way Crash died. Use his desk to get a
close-up, then look at his notebook. The top sheet’s been taken.
Pick up the pencil next to the notebook, and rub it across the page of the
notebook to get HARTRIDGE’S NOTES. Examine HARTRIDGE’S
NOTES in your Inventory to see what he wrote. There’s nothing
more you can do here, so leave the office, and leave the university.
MAP
Go to the French
Quarter.
Go to the Police
Station.
POLICE STATION
Enter the Police
Station.
Open gate at the
end of the counter. Open Detective Mosely’s door, and enter his
office.
Detective Mosely wanted proof about the Voodoo Murders before he would
reopen the case. Well, now you have all the proof he needs!
Show RECONSTRUCTED VEVE PATTERN to Detective Mosely.
Show VOODOO ARTICLE to Detective Mosely. Show SNAKE
SCALES to Detective Mosely. Show HARTRIDGE’S NOTES to
Detective Mosely. You’ve convinced Detective Mosely - he agrees to reopen
the case. Leave the Police Station.
Use your bike to
return to the Map.
MAP
It’s getting late,
so you automatically head back home.
