CONGO - PLANE CRASH (GEORGE)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

 

 

INTRO


You are a lawyer, specialising in patent laws.  You’re travelling to the Congo to meet with a scientist called Mr Cholmmondely, in order to patent his latest invention. 





BACK OF THE PLANE

 

After the long intro, you find that the plane you were flying in has crashed, and is balanced on top of a cliff, ready to topple to it’s doom at any moment.  You have to get yourself and Harry (the pilot) out of there! 

 

Unbuckle your seatbelt (S).  Look out the window next to your seat (D) to see your perilous predicament, and try to open the window (S).  You should get some weight to the back of the plane, to prevent it from going over the edge.  Walk over to the crate on the left (Arrow Keys), and look at it (D).  Free the crate (S) from the buckle and strap that are holding it in place.  Stand to the right of the crate, and pull it (S & Right Arrow Key) into the middle of the floor.  Now stand behind the crate, near the cockpit, and push the crate (S & Down Arrow Key) down as far as you can.  Walk up a few steps.  Look at (D) the BOTTLE OF BEER on the floor, and pick up (S) BOTTLE OF BEER.  Now walk up into the cockpit. 

 

 

 

 

COCKPIT

 

Look (D) at Harry Gilligan, the pilot, who is unconscious.  Try yelling at him (S) if you like, but he still won’t wake up.  Look at the cracked window (D) at the front of the plane.  Try to push the glass out (S), but you’re not strong enough.  Focus on the fire extinguisher on the floor (Page Up & Page Down), look at it (D), and pick it up (S).  Focus on the cracked window again (Page Up & Page Down).  Now throw (S) the fire extinguisher through the cracked window.  Look through (D) the cracked window, then climb out (S) the cracked window.  WOAH!  Maybe not! 

 

Turn to face Harry.  Search Harry (A), and you find a BOTTLE OPENER.  Now open your Inventory (Space Bar), and scroll round to the BOTTLE OF BEER (Left & Right Arrow Keys).  Select the BOTTLE OF BEER (A), then scroll round to the BOTTLE OPENER (Left & Right Arrow Keys).  Select the BOTTLE OPENER (A).  You combine the 2 items, resulting in an OPEN BEER BOTTLE.  Turn to face Harry.  Open your Inventory (Space Bar) and scroll to the OPEN BEER BOTTLE (Left Arrow & Right Arrow Keys).  Select the OPEN BEER BOTTLE (S).  The scent of alcohol wakes Harry up.  Talk to Harry (S) and work through all the conversation topics (S).  After the conversation, he goes to the back of the plane and sits on the crate, to give more balance to the plane.  Now turn to face the broken window, and climb out (S).  You and Harry both exit the plane. 

 

 

 

CLIFF EDGE

 

The plane topples over the edge, leaving you and Harry stranded on different ledges on the edge of the cliff.  You have to navigate up to the cave at the top right. 

 

SAVE YOUR GAME HERE.  The cliffs are like a maze, and it’s very confusing to navigate them.  This is how you reach the top. 

 

 

          -        Walk right, towards Harry, then jump (S) across to the

                   ledge below him. 

          -        Climb up (W) to Harry’s ledge. 

          -        Walk forward a couple of steps, and talk (S) to Harry. 

          -        Walk right to the edge of the ledge - it crumbles away. 

          -        Quickly walk right a couple of steps, before this ledge

                   also crumbles. 

          -        Walk right towards the high ledge above you, and climb

                   up it (W). 

          -        Harry decides to make his own way to the top of the cliff,

                   leaving you down there. 

          -        Walk right to the wall, and edge your way along the

                   narrow platform (S & Arrow Keys) to the next ledge. 

          -        Step away from the wall (S). 

          -        Walk right a few steps, then jump down (A) to the

                   next ledge. 

          -        You’re right next to the waterfall now.  Creep forward to

                   the front of the ledge, and climb down it (A). 

          -        Release your grip from the ledge you just climbed down

                   from (A again). 

          -        Walk right to the edge, and climb down again, to the

                   ledge below (A). 

          -        Release your grip (A). 

          -        Walk right a couple of steps, then jump (S) to the

                    ledge behind the waterfall. 

          -        Creep right a few steps, then climb (W) up the ledge on

                   the right. 

          -        Walk right a few steps, then climb down (A) to the

                   ledge below. 

          -        Shimmy along (Arrow Keys) to the right. 

          -        Release your grip (A) to stand on the platform below. 

          -        Walk right a few steps. 

          -        Edge (S & Arrow Keys) right towards the next ledge. 

          -        Step away from the wall (S). 

          -        Climb up (W) the next ledge on the right. 

          -        Jump (S) right across the gap. 

          -        Climb up (W) the ledge on your left. 

          -        Climb up all the ledges (W) until you can‘t go any higher. 

          -        Jump down (A) to the ledge on the left. 

          -        Edge left along (S & Arrow Keys) the narrow ledge, to

                   the next ledge. 

          -        Step away from the wall (S). 

          -        Climb up 2 ledges on the left (W).

 

 

Watch the cut scene.  Mr Cholmmondely, the man you’re supposed to meet, is shot!

PARIS - VERNON BLIER’S APARTMENT BLOCK (NICO)

OUTSIDE VERNON’S APARTMENT

 

Your latest journalist assignment, is interviewing Vernon.  Vernon is a computer hacker who has found an ancient manuscript that he thinks will predict the end of the world.  He just has to finish translating it. 

 

When you reach the front door, you hear gunshots.  Look at the door (D), listen at the door (A), and try to open the door (S).  But the door is locked.  Walk left a few steps, look at the Notice Board (D), and take PENCIL (S) from the Notice Board.   Look at the balcony window on the left (D) and open the balcony window (S). 

 

 

 

 

BALCONY

 

Look at the railing on the left (D).  Somehow, you’re going to have to climb over that railing.  Walk over to the bird bath.  Grab the bird bath, and drag it over to the railing (S & Arrow Keys).  Climb up onto the bird bath (W), and jump down the other side.  Grab and push the bird bath right up against the railing (S & Arrow Keys).  Now climb up onto the bird bath again (W), turn to face the wall, and jump up to the railing above.  Shimmy along left (Left Arrow Key) to the next balcony.  Drop down (A) onto the balcony. 

 

Look at the balcony door (D) then peer through the door (A) to see a body lying on the floor.  Try to open the balcony door (S), but it’s locked.  Climb over the railing (S), shimmy left (Left Arrow Key) to the next apartment, then climb back over the railing (S).   SAVE YOUR GAME HERE.  Turn to face the balcony window.  Look at the window (D), peer through the window (A), and try to open the door (D).  The door is ajar, but the latch is down.  Open your Inventory (Space Bar) and scroll round to your PRESS CARD (Left & Right Arrow Keys).  Face the door again, and use PRESS CARD with the door to lift the latch (S).  Now open the door (S) and enter the apartment. 

 

 

 

 

 

BEDROOM

 

Look at (D) the TV on the right.  Walk left a few steps and look at (D) the door.  Listen at the door (A), open the door (S), and enter the Living Room. 

 




LIVING ROOM

 

SAVE YOUR GAME HERE.  Vernon’s body is still lying here.  Walk right a few steps, and look at the picture (D) on the wall.  Walk right a few more steps.  Look at the door (D), listen at the door (A), open the door (S), and enter the Bathroom. 

 

 

 

 

BATHROOM

 

Explore the Bathroom if you like.  There’s nothing you need to do in here, so when you’re ready, leave the Bathroom. 

 

 

 

 

LIVING ROOM

 

SAVE YOUR GAME HERE.  Walk right a few steps, and head through the archway, into the kitchen on the right. 

 

 

 

 

KITCHEN

 

You come face to face with the shooter, and she looks remarkably like you, Nico!  Watch the cut scene.  But don’t wait for her to finish talking.  As soon as she mentions killing you, grab the frying pan (S) to protect yourself against the woman.  When she points her gun at you again, quickly open the fridge  door (S), smashing it into the shooter.  She tries to shoot you again, but her gun is empty, so she flees instead. 

 

 

 

 

FIRE ESCAPE

 

You find yourself out on the fire escape.  Watch the red car speeding away.  Who was that woman?  You never forget a face, so why have you forgotten hers?  Open the kitchen door (S) again, and enter the kitchen. 

 

 

 

 

KITCHEN

 

Explore the kitchen.  Look at the frying pan on the floor (D).  Look at the answering machine on the table (S).  Use the answering machine, and listen to the 3 messages (A).  Afterwards, call Andre Lobineau (S) and work through all the conversation topics (S).  Also, call your newspaper office, and work through all the conversation topics (S).  Walk right to the sink.  Look at the bin next to the sink (D), and pick up BANK STATEMENT (S) from the bin.  Open your Inventory (Space Bar), and scroll through to the BANK STATEMENT.  Look at the BANK STATEMENT (D) to learn that Vernon didn’t have much money.  Head left, and make your way back to the archway.  Look at the rug on the floor under the archway (D), and pick up the rug (S) to reveal a loose floorboard.  Look at the floorboard (D) and pick up the floorboard (S).  You find a hiding space, containing a safe.  Look at the safe (D) and try to open the safe if you like (S), but you don‘t know the combination.  Leave the safe for now, and return to the Living Room. 

 

 

 

 

LIVING ROOM

 

Explore the room.  Look at the computer on the desk at the wall (D), and try to use the computer (S).  Someone has already removed the hard drive.  Look at Vernon’s body on the ground (D), and search him (S) to find VERNON‘S BUSINESS CARD.  Look at ’something shiny’ on the floor (D), and pick up (S) the SHELL CASING.  This came from the gun that shot poor Vernon dead.  When you’re ready, head back to the archway, and go through the archway, back into the Kitchen. 

 

 

 

 

KITCHEN

 

Head to the door opposite the archway.  Open the door (S), and leave the kitchen. 

 

 

 

 

FIRE ESCAPE

 

Climb down the ladder in the fire escape (S), down to the platform below. 

 

Walk to the other end of the platform, and climb down the next ladder (S), down to the alley. 

 

 

 

 

ALLEY

 

Look at the rubbish bin on the left (D), and search them if you like.  There’s nothing of interest in the bin.  Walk left a few steps.  Look at NEWSPAPER on the ground (D), and pick up the NEWSPAPER (S).  Look at the drainpipe on the left (D) and climb up the drainpipe (S).  The drainpipe breaks, and you fall to the ground.  Climb up the wall on the left (W), and jump down the other side (A). 

 

 

 

 

COURTYARD

 

Explore the courtyard.  Look at the DARK WIG on the ground (D), and pick up the DARK WIG (S).  The DARK WIG is a copy of your own hair style.  Could the mysterious woman have worn this wig, when she shot Vernon?  And shot at you?  Open your Inventory (Space Bar) and look at the DARK WIG (D) to discover that the woman really has blonde hair, not dark.  Climb back over the wall (W) and jump down the other side (A) so you are back in the alley. 

 

 

 

 

ALLEY

 

Walk along the alley, and head out into the street. 

 

 

 

 

STREET

 

Explore the street.  When you see the boy with the skateboard, look at him (D), talk to him (S), and work through all the conversation topics (S).  Find the Traffic Warden.  Look at her (D), talk to her (S), and work through all the conversation topics (S).  Open the gate behind the traffic warden (S), and enter the Garden. 

 

 

 

 

GARDEN

 

Explore the Garden.  Look at Beatrice, who is sitting on the bench (D), talk to her (S), and work through all the conversation topics (S).  She takes the news about Vernon’s death badly, and runs off in despair.  Open the garden gate (S), and leave the garden. 

 

 

 

 

STREET

 

Head down the side-street, opposite the brassiere.  Find the woman who is sweeping the pavement.  Look at her (D), talk to her (S), and work through all the conversation topics (S).  Return to the main street. 

 

Talk to the skateboarder boy again (S) and ask about the red sports car (S).  Talk to the traffic warden again (S) and ask about the red sports car (S).  She tells you about the mask she saw in the car.  Watch the cut scene as the police arrive, drag you back to Vernon’s apartment, and accuse you of his murder. 

 

 

 

 

LIVING ROOM

 

Work through all the conversation topics with the Police Inspector (S).  When conversation is over, the Police Inspector arrests you.

CONGO - TEMPLE (GEORGE)

CAVE

 

Head down, further into the cave.  Watch the cut scene with Cholmondely, as he takes his last breath.  He mentioned someone named Susarro.  Look at his body (D) and search his body (S) to find CHOLMONDELY’S ID CARD.  Look at the Omega Door (D) in the back wall - there’s some kind of slot in the centre of it. 

 

Walk right a few steps, to the workbench.  Look at the workbench (D) and pick up GLASTONBURY POSTCARD (S) and MAGNIFYING GLASS (S) from the workbench.  Open your Inventory (Space Bar), scroll through to the GLASTONBURY POSTCARD (Left & Right Arrow Keys), and look at the GLASTONBURY POSTCARD (D) to read the message from Bruno.  Look at the packing cases on the right (D) and open the packing cases if you like (S), but there’s nothing useful inside. 

 

Look at the door in the right wall (D) to realise that it has no handle.  There doesn’t seem any obvious way to open this door.  Walk down a few steps, and stand on the pressure pad on the floor.  Ah-ha!  That opens the door.  But the moment you step off the pressure pad, the door slams shut again.  Walk up a few steps, to the wooden crate.  Grab the wooden crate and drag it down onto the pressure pad on the floor (S & Down Arrow).  That keeps the door open.  Now head through the opened door on the right, into the Machine Room. 

 

 

 

 

MACHINE ROOM

 

Explore the room.  Look at the mechanism on the wall, next to the door (D) - there’s a hole in the centre of it.  Head deeper into the room.  Look at the machine at the back wall (D) and use the machine (S) - it splutters as if it’s out of fuel.  Notice the opening high up in the wall, to the left of the machine.  Walk down to the gas cylinders.  Look at the gas cylinders (D) and try to use the gas cylinders (S) to learn that they are connected to the giant machine. 

 

Walk up to the front of the giant machine.  Look at the lever (D) and pull the lever (S).  The machine explodes!  Walk down a few steps, towards the gas cylinders.  Look at the lever that’s now lying on the ground (D) and pick up the lever (S).  It becomes a METAL ROD, in your Inventory. 

 

Head back to the door on the left, and look at the house on the wall (D).  Open your Inventory (Space Bar), scroll through to the METAL ROD (Left & Right Arrows), and use the METAL ROD (S) in the mechanism in the wall. It fits!  Pull the METAL ROD once (S).  This should keep the door open.  Now go through the door on the left, back to the cave. 

 

 

 

 

CAVE

 

Grab the wooden crate on the floor, and drag it up towards the door (S & Arrow Keys).  If the door slams shut when you drag the crate off the pressure pad, you’ll need to push the crate back, and pull the lever in the wall in the Machine Room again.  Now navigate the crate into the Machine Room. 

 

 

 

 

MACHINE ROOM

 

Push the crate up to the opening that’s high up in the wall, to the left of the machine (S & Arrow Keys). 

 

 



Retrieve the METAL ROD (A) from the mechanism on the wall next to the door.  Climb up onto the crate (W), then climb up to the opening (W).  Head through the opening, into a stone corridor. 

 

 

 

 

STONE CORRIDOR

 

Walk up a couple of steps, and look at the BIRD’S NEST (D) on the small ledge, in the back wall.  Sadly, it’s out of reach.  Open your Inventory (Space Bar), scroll through to the METAL ROD (Left & Right Arrows), and use the METAL ROD (S) to knock the BIRD’S NEST down.  Pick up (S) the BIRD’S NEST from the ground.  Open your Inventory (Space Bar), and look at the BIRD’S NEST (D) to learn that it’s as dry as tinder.  Walk down to the ledge, and inch your way across the narrow ledge (S & Arrow Keys), until you reach the next platform. 

 

Step away from the wall (S).  Walk to the other end of the platform, then turn to face the wall.  Jump up the wall (W), so you’re hanging from a ledge above.  Shimmy across the ledge (Arrow Keys) to the next platform, then drop down to the platform (A).  Now jump left (S) to the next platform.  Follow the platform along, until you see the opening above you.  Jump up to the opening (W), and head through the opening. 

 

 

 

 

CLEARING

 

Head down, until you see Harry in a jeep.  SAVE YOUR GAME HERE.  Look at the giant stone dragon’s head statue (D) to see the remains of a fire.  Also, note the 3 baddies down below.  You need to distract them, if you and Harry hope to escape.  Look at the fire (D).  Open your Inventory (Space Bar) and scroll through to the BIRD’S NEST (Left & Right Arrow Keys), and place the BIRD’S NEST into the giant stone dragon’s head statue (S).  Open your Inventory again (Space Bar) and scroll through to the MAGNIFYING GLASS (Left & Right Arrow Keys), and place the MAGNIFYING GLASS on top of the BIRD’S NEST (S).  You reflect the sun’s rays, setting the dry BIRD’S NEST on fire.  Watch the cut scene, as Susarro corners you.  As soon as Harry calls you, quickly run over to Harry in the jeep (Shift & Arrow Keys).  Jump into the jeep (S), and Harry drives you to safety. 

 

You decide to travel to Glastonbury, to track down the mysterious Bruno that had sent the POSTCARD you found in the caves.

GLASTONBURY - TOWN (GEORGE)

HIGH STREET

 

Explore the area.  For a bit of fun, look at any of the house doors, and knock on the doors - nobody’s home.  Walk through any alley, and find yourself back on the main street again.  Look for Colonel Butley, who’s walking up & down the street.  Look at him (D), talk to him (S), and work through all the conversation topics (S).  Look for Eamon O’Mara, who’s sitting on a bench outside The Yeamon‘s Arms pub.  Look at him (D), talk to him (S) and work through all the conversation topics (S). 

 

Look for Zazie’s Kiosk.  It’s a white house with a brown door, on the left, at one end of the street.  Open the door (S) and enter it. 

 

 

 

 

ZAZIE’S KIOSK

 

Approach Madame Zazie, and watch the cut scene as you sit down at her table.  Work through all the conversation topics (S).  When conversation is over, you leave her kiosk. 

 

 

 

 

HIGH STREET

 

Look for The Cosmic Faerie shop.  It’s a green door, about halfway up the street, on the left.  Open the door (D) and enter the shop (S). 

 

 

 

 

THE COSMIC FAERIE SHOP

 

Explore the shop.  Look at the potion poster next to the door (D).  Look at the Enchanted Avalon book at the back (D), used for warding off evil.  Walk down a few steps, and look at the Pentacles Chart on the wall (D).  Try to enter the Private Area, but customers are not allowed back there.  Look at the poetry book with the coins on the counter (D), and read the book (S).  Keep reading the book (S) until you ‘don’t have time to read any more poems’.  Look at the postcard stand in front of the counter (D).  You see a postcard just like the one you found in the Congo.  You’re on the right trail.  Look at Tristram Hillage, the proprietor (D), talk to him (S), and work through all the conversation topics (S).  When you ask about Bruno, he acts very suspiciously.  Then you hear floorboards creaking, and other noises, from above.  Continue working through the conversation topics (S).  Eventually, you convince Tristram to give you his POETRY BOOK WITH COINS.  When you’re ready, open the door (S) and leave the shop. 

 

 



HIGH STREET

 

Look for Colonel Butley again.  Talk to him (S) and work through all the conversation topics (S).  Look for Eamon O’Mara, who’s still sitting on the bench outside The Yeamon‘s Arms pub.  Talk to Eamon (S) and work through all the conversation topics (S).  You show the POETRY BOOK WITH COINS to Eamon… and learn that Tristram has just stolen the poems from other authors.  None of the poems are his.  Watch the cut scene. 

 

 

 

 

THE COSMIC FAERIE SHOP

 

Watch the cut scene as Eamon confronts Tristram.  While they are arguing, head to the Private Area door, and enter the Private Area. 

 

Upstairs, walk forward a few steps, then watch the cut scene with Melissa.  Work through all the conversation topics with her (S).  When conversation is over, you head back down to the main shop area. 

 

Watch the cut scene with Tristram.  Work through the conversation topics with him (S).  After you blackmail Tristram, he gives you an old pair of BOXER SHORTS that used to belong to Bruno.  When you’re ready, open the shop door (S) and leave the shop. 

 

 

 

 

HIGH STREET

 

Look for Zazie’s Kiosk again.  It’s a white house with a brown door, on the left, at one end of the street.  Open the door (S) and enter it. 

 

 

 

 

ZAZIE’S KIOSK

 

Approach Madame Zazie, and sit down at her table.  Work through all the conversation topics with her (S).  When you ask about the POSTCARD from Bruno, she won’t help you unless you cross her palm with silver.  End the conversation (S) and leave her Kiosk. 

 

 

 

 

HIGH STREET

 

Open your Inventory (Space Bar).  Scroll to the POETRY BOOK WITH COINS (Left & Right Arrows).  Select the POETRY BOOK (S), then scroll round to the METAL ROD (Left & Right Arrow Keys).   Select the METAL ROD (A) to lever 3 SILVER COINS out from the now DAMAGED POETRY BOOK.  Enter Zazie’s Kiosk again (S). 

 

 

 

 

ZAZIE’S KIOSK

 

Approach Madame Zazie, and sit down at her table.  Work through all the conversation topics with her (S).  When you ask about the BOXER SHORTS, she has a terrifying vision about dragon fire, then she passes out.  You automatically leave her kiosk. 





HIGH STREET

 

The Yeamon‘s Arms pub across the street is on fire.  You have to act fast.  Run (Shift & Arrow Keys) across the street to the pub.  Look at the pub door (S), but it’s locked.  Walk left a few steps, and look at the back door, set back from the street (D).  Try to open the door (S), but it’s too sturdy.  Talk to Eamon (S), who’s sitting on the bench again, and tell him about the fire.  He helps you break through the back door, into the courtyard behind the pub. 

 

 

 

 

COURTYARD BEHIND THE YEAMON’S ARMS PUB

 

You see a hooded monk leaving the scene, but you don’t have time to think about that now.  You think Bruno may be inside the burning building, and your priority is to rescue him.  Run over to the burning building (Shift & Arrow Keys).  Go to the front of the building, and see a window high up - too high for you to reach.  There are some crates nearby.  Drag the single crate on the left (S & Arrow Keys) to below the window.  Look at the single crate on the right, and drag the crate into the gap in the crates, so you have a line of 3 crates (S & Arrow Keys).  Now push the top crate over to the window (S & Up Arrow Key).  You’ll have to climb of top of the lower crates (W) in order to place the top crate correctly.  Now climb onto the top crate (W), then climb up through the window (W). 

 

 

 

 

BURNING BUILDING

 

Walk left a few steps to see Bruno lying on the ground.  Look at Bruno (D) then untie Bruno (S).  Walk right to the window, then climb out the window (S).  Watch the cut scene as you both escape, just in the nick of time. 

 

 

 

 

HIGH STREET

 

Watch the cut scene.  You recognise Bruno from Hotel Ubu in the first game.  Thankfully, Bruno is no longer a Neo-Templar.  However, the Neo-Templar Order is after him now.  Work through the conversation topics (S).  Bruno tells you that the Neo-Templar’s order is now called The Cult Of The Dragon.  As you are talking, notice Colonel Butley in the background, as he goes after Tristram Hillage, to get his daughter back.

After 2 days in jail, you are finally released, and able to return to your apartment.  You are naturally angry about being arrested.  Look at your phone (D) on the table, and listen to your phone (A) to hear your messages.  Now use your phone (S) to call Andre (S), and tell him about Vernon’s safe (S).  Use the phone again (S) to call your boss at the newspaper (S).  Hmm, your boss is in a meeting. 

 

Explore your apartment.  Look at the red nose on the table at the back of the room, on the left (D) - it makes you think about George.  Look at the photo of George on the shelves, near the window.  Look at the picture on the wall next to the window - George gave you that picture.  When you’re ready, leave the apartment through the front door on the right (S), and travel to Vernon‘s Apartment Area (S).

PARIS - VERNON BLIER’S APARTMENT BLOCK (NICO)

STREET

 

Walk forward a few steps, and overhear 2 women talking about you.  Head down the side-street, opposite the Brasserie, to where the 2 women are gossiping.  Look at the woman who is sweeping (D), and talk to her (S).  Look at the woman with rollers in her hair (D), and talk to her (S).  She storms off in a huff.  Now, still in the side street, head left, and look for the double-door (D) that leads to Vernon’s apartment building.  Open the door (S), and enter the building. 

 

 



OUTSIDE VERNON’S APARTMENT

 

You’re at the top of the stairs.  Walk to the other side of the floor, then try open Vernon’s door on the right (S).  The door is locked.  Damn!  Try to open the balcony window, but that is also locked.  Head back down the stairs, and leave the building. 

 

 

 

 

STREET

 

Head back down to the main street. 

 

Head down towards the next alley, and enter the alley next to Vernon’s apartment building.  It’s got a yellow smiley face painted on the wall, so you can easily identify it. 

 

Climb up the ladder at the end of the alley (S). 

 

 

 

 

FIRE ESCAPE

 

Climb up another ladder (S), to the top of the fire escape.  Try to open the door (S), but it’s locked.  Look at the door (D) to see that the key is in the keyhole.  Open your Inventory (Space Bar) and scroll to the NEWSPAPER (Left & Right Arrow Keys).  Use the NEWSPAPER with the door (S) to slip it underneath.  Open your Inventory again (Space Bar) and scroll to the PENCIL (Left & Right Arrow Keys).  Use the PENCIL with the door (S) to push the KEY out of the keyhole.  Now pull the NEWSPAPER out from under the door (S).  Open your Inventory again (Space Bar), and scroll to the VERNON’S KITCHEN DOOR KEY (Left & Right Arrow Keys).  Use VERNON’S KITCHEN DOOR KEY with the door (S) to unlock it.  Now open the door (S) and enter the kitchen. 

 

 

 

 

KITCHEN

 

Look at the phone on the kitchen table to learn the phone number for this apartment (D).  Walk up to the sink.  Look at the sink (D) to see a box of tissues.  Take a PAPER TISSUE from the box of tissues (S).  Head through the arch, into the living room. 

 

 

 

 

LIVING ROOM

 

Walk up to the bedroom door.  You hear sobbing.  Open the bedroom door (S) and enter the bedroom. 

 

 

 

 

BEDROOM

 

Vernon’s girlfriend Beatrice is sitting on the bed, sobbing miserably.  Look at Beatrice (D) and try to talk to her (S), but she doesn’t want to talk to you.  Open your Inventory (Space Bar) and scroll to the PAPER TISSUE (Left & Right Arrow Keys).  Select the PAPER TISSUE (S), and give it to Beatrice.  Now, she’ll talk to you.  Work through all the conversation topics with her (S).  She gives you a clue about Vernon’s safe.  End conversation with Beatrice.  Notice the poster on the wall, for Broken Sword 1!  Nice touch!  Now open the door (S) and leave the bedroom. 

 

 

 

 

LIVING ROOM

 

Head down to the arch.  Look at the safe in the floor (D) and use the safe (S).  Use the information that Beatrice told you, to open the safe (S).  Look inside the safe (D), and pick up VERNON’S DIAGRAM (S) and VERNON’S DVD (S) from the safe.  Walk through the arch, into the kitchen. 

 

 

 

 

KITCHEN

 

Walk right to the kitchen door.  Open the door (S) and head out to the fire escape. 

 

 

 

 

FIRE ESCAPE

 

SAVE YOUR GAME HERE.  Climb down (S), and keep climbing down (S) until you reach the pavement. 

 

 

 

 

ALLEY

 

Walk down the alley, to the main street. 

 

 

 

 

STREET

 

Watch the cut scene, as the red sports car tries to run you down.  As soon as you see the car coming towards you, jump out of the way (S & Right Arrow Key).  The red car speeds off.  That was close!  Walk to either end of the street, and travel back to your apartment (S).

APARTMENT

 

Walk over to your TV and DVD player on the table by the window.  Look at the TV (D).  Open your Inventory (Space Bar) and scroll to VERNON’S DVD (Left & Right Arrow Keys).  Use VERNON’S DVD with the TV (S).  Watch the DVD - Vernon has recorded a message to his girlfriend Beatrice, telling her about the manuscript, and how dangerous is it.  Well, you wanted a big scoop for your newspaper, and now you’ve found one!  But you’re going to need help with this.  Use the phone on the table (S) and call Andre (S).  Tell him about Vernon (S).  Watch the cut scene as Andre watches Vernon’s message, and discusses it with you.  Use the phone on your table again (S) and call your newspaper, and tell them about the Theatrical Mask.  Talk to Andre (S) and work through all the conversation topics (S).  Open your front door (S), and head out for the Theatre.  Just as you are about to leave, the phone rings.  You answer it - it’s your boss.  You ask why he didn’t bail you out of jail, and after a brief argument, you quit!  You and Andre travel to the Theatre now.

PARIS - ABANDONED  THEATRE (NICO)

STREET

 

You arrive outside the theatre.  Look at the front door (D), peer through the front door (A), and try to open the door (S).  It’s locked.  You’ll have to find another way inside.  Walk right, around the corner. 

 

There’s a wall, with a row of trees in front of you.  Head up the street, to the next side-street.  Head down this side-street. 

 

Walk down to the end of the side street, to the red sports car. 

 

 



This is the red car that nearly ran you down earlier.  Look at the car (D), then peer into the car (A) to see the mask - you‘re on the right track.  Walk back up the road you just came from.  There is scaffolding on one side of the road.  There’s a fire escape ladder on the other side of the road - the theatre side, but it’s too high up for you to reach.  Follow the scaffolding to the end.  Now walk out onto the yellow lines on the road.  Look carefully at the scaffolding, and look for the area just before the pink light. 

 

 



SCAFFOLDING

 

Jump up to grab the 1st level of scaffolding (W), then pull yourself up onto the scaffolding (W).  Walk left a few steps, to the ladder.  Climb up the ladder (S), up to the 2nd level of the scaffolding.  Follow the scaffolding left, round the corner, to the end.  Turn around, so you are facing right.  Jump up to the 3rd level of scaffolding (W), then pull yourself up onto the top level of scaffolding (W).  Stay at this end of the scaffolding - don’t go round the corner.  Jump up to the 4th level of scaffolding (W), then pull yourself up onto the scaffolding (W). 

 

 



Follow the scaffolding right, round the corner, to the end. 


 



When you reach the gap, climb down, so you are hanging onto the ledge (A), then drop down to the scaffolding below (A).  Walk right to the fence, then climb up the ladder (S).  Walk forward a few steps, so you see the platform above you. 

 

 



Jump up to grip the platform (W), then pull yourself up onto the platform (W).  Follow the platform along to the billboard.  Look at the billboard (D), then pull the string loose on the billboard (S).  But the billboard remains in place.  Maybe it’s stuck at the bottom? 

 

Walk right to the end of the platform.  Lower yourself down (A), then drop down to the platform below (A).  Walk left a few steps.  Climb down the ladder (S).  Walk left a few steps, so you can see the platform above you.  Jump up to the platform (W), then pull yourself up onto the platform (W). 

 

Follow the scaffolding left, round the corner, to the end.  Lower yourself on the platform below (A) then drop down to the scaffolding below (A).  Walk left a couple of steps, and lower yourself down the platform below (A), then drop down onto the platform (A).  Follow the scaffolding right, round the corner, to the end.  Jump over the gap (S), DON‘T go down the ladder.

 

 



Walk forward a few steps, to the fence.  Turn around, so you can see the platform above you.  Jump up to the platform (W), and climb up onto the platform (W).  Head left to the wooden crate.  Grab the wooden crate, and drag it right a few steps (S & Right Arrow Key), until it is under the platform above. 


 



Climb up onto the wooden crate (W).  Turn around so you are facing right. 

 

 



Jump up onto the platform above (W).  The bottom of the billboard is here.  Look at the billboard (D), and remove the metal clips (S) that are holding the billboard in place.  Watch the cut scene as you use the billboard as a bridge, and cross over to the fire escape on the side of the theatre. 

 

Climb the ladder, up to the roof (S). 

 

 

 

 

THEATRE ROOF

 

There are 3 doors here on the roof, but they’re all locked.  Walk left a few steps, to the edge of the roof.  Climb up onto the raised ledge (W), then climb down the ladder in the left corner (S).  Look at the door at the base of the ladder (D), then open the door (S) and enter the theatre. 

 

 

 

 

INSIDE THE THEATRE

 

Climb down the stairs.  Head up a few steps, then through the doorway on the left, and into the corridor. 

 

Follow the corridor down all the steps, until you reach a door.  Open the door (S), and head through into the Foyer. 

 

 

 

 

INSIDE THE THEATRE - FOYER

 

Explore the Foyer.  Watch the cut scene as you are caught by Susarro’s gang.
