MANSION

KITCHEN

 

You are Adrienne Delaney.  You’re happily married to Don Gordon, and the pair of you have just moved into a grand mansion in a new town.  The mansion used to belong to a famous magician, Carno.  As you and Don discuss plans for the day, Don says that he wants to fix up the spare bathroom, and turn it into a Darkroom.  Since Don will be busy, you decide to explore on your own. 

 

The camera frequently changes perspective, so it can be confusing when trying to keep a sense of direction. 

 

Click on the floor to stand up.  Search the dresser on the right, and take the MATCHBOOK.  Open the door on the left, and walk into the pantry. 

 

Turn on the light on the right in the pantry.  Lift up the rug to find a trapdoor.  Try to open the trapdoor, but it’s stuck.  Leave the pantry. 

 

Walk down to the other end of the kitchen. 

 

Click on the sink on the right to get a drink of water.  Open the fridge on the back wall to get a snack.  Go left to the Dining Room. 

 

 

 

 

DINING ROOM

 

Look at painting on the wall on the right.  Look at fireplace on the right, and take POKER from the fireplace.  Walk down to the other end of the Dining Room. 

 

Look at the huge mirror on the wall.  Walk back to the other end of the Dining Room. 

 

Continue up, so you are back in the Kitchen. 

 

 

 

 

KITCHEN

 

Open door at far end of the Kitchen, and enter the Pantry. 

 

Turn on light in the Pantry.  Use POKER with the trapdoor in the floor to pry it open.  There’s stairs leading down to a Basement.  Try to climb down the stairs, but it’s too dark, and you can’t see anything.  Use MATCHBOOK with yourself.  You light a match, climb down the stairs into the Wine Cellar, and light the lantern. 

 

 

 

WINE CELLAR

 

Explore the Wine Cellar.  Look at the giant vat.  Pick up HAMMER from the floor near the vat.  Look at the dusty kegs in the middle of the room.  Interact with the kegs at the wall - the wine from those kegs tastes good.  Go through the iron gate at the top-let, into a sinister corridor. 

 

Look at the shackles on the wall.  That’s all you can do here, so go back through the iron gate. 

 

Head down to the other end of the Basement, then climb the stairs, back up to the Pantry. 

 

 

 

 

KITCHEN

 

Leave the Pantry. 

 

Walk down to the other end of the Kitchen.  Go through door on the left, into the Dining Doom. 

 

 

 

 

DINING ROOM

 

Head through door on the right, into the Ground Floor Entrance Hall. 

 

 

 

 

GROUND FLOOR ENTRANCE HALL

 

You can access other areas of the Mansion from here.  Look at the fireplace.  Pick up NEWSPAPER from the floor in front of the fireplace.  Sit down on the nearby bench to play with your cat, Spaz. 

 

Walk through door on the right, into a corridor. 

 

 

 

 

CORRIDOR

 

Try to open the door at the end of the corridor, but it’s locked.  Go back down to the Ground Floor Entrance Hall. 

 

 

 

 

GROUND FLOOR ENTRANCE HALL

 

Walk right to the harpsichord.  Wind the harpsichord handle so it will start playing.  Examine the Bar counter, and look at the bottle of Absinthe behind the counter.  Try to open the blue door in the blue wall, but it’s locked.  Walk down to the front door (next to the stairs).  Look at the Fortune Teller Booth.  Use the Fortune Teller Booth to get a sinister fortune told - ‘Evil Will Walk Once More‘.  Now climb up the stairs to the 1st Floor. 

 

 

 

 

1ST FLOOR HALLWAY

 

Look over the balcony on the left, down onto the Entrance Hall below.  Walk through door on the left, into a Bedroom. 

 

 

 

 

ZOLTAN’S BEDROOM

 

Zoltan (Carno) used to own this Mansion, and this is his bedroom.  Look at the portrait on the wall.  Sit down on the settee or the chair if you like - click on the floor to stand up again.  Walk down to the other side of the bedroom. 

 

Click on the bed to lie down.  You fall asleep and have a disturbing nightmare.  After your nightmare, look at dressing table on the right, and look at the ring in the jewellery box.  Search the dresser next to the bed, and look at the cigarette case in the drawer.  Leave the Bedroom. 

 

 

 

 

1ST FLOOR HALLWAY

 

Walk through door on the right, into Marie’s Bedroom. 

 

 

 

 

MARIE’S BEDROOM

 

Marie was one of Zoltan’s wives.  Sit on the bed for a while.  Comfy!  Look at the portrait above the fireplace next to the bed.  Look in the mirror on the dressing table opposite the bed.  Search the drawer in the dressing table, and read the love letter from Marie.  Take TAROT CARDS from the table near the fireplace.  Leave the room. 

 

 

 

 

1ST FLOOR HALLWAY

 

Walk up to the next section of the hallway. 

 

Go through door on the left, into the Bathroom. 

 

 

 

 

BATHROOM \ DARKROOM

 

This is the room that Don is converting into a Darkroom.  He cuts himself on the clogged sink, then crawls underneath the sink to try and unclog it.  Look at the sink - it doesn’t look clogged.  Talk to Don 2 times, until he tells you to let him work.  Try to pull the light chord that’s hanging from the ceiling, but Don warns you not to touch it because it’s not secure yet.  Leave the room. 

 

 

 

 

1ST FLOOR HALLWAY

 

Go through door in the back wall, into the Torture Room. 

 

 

 

 

TORTURE ROOM

 

Look at gramophone next to the door.  Look at the electric chair.  OW!  Look at the mirror.  Leave the room. 

 

 

 

 

1ST FLOOR HALLWAY

 

Enter door on the right.  This is actually stairs leading up to the 2nd Floor. 

 

 

 

 

2ND FLOOR HALLWAY

 

Enter door on the left, into the Nursery. 

 

 

 

 

NURSERY

 

Pick up the teddy bear on top of the dresser.  The bear’s head falls off!  You pick up the bear’s head and replace the bear back onto the dresser.  Walk down to the other end of the Nursery. 

 

Look at the back wall to see a strange cloud over the cot.  Try to touch the strange cloud.  Walk back down, and leave the room. 

 

 

 

 

2ND FLOOR HALLWAY

 

Try to open door in the back wall, on the right, but it’s locked.  You realise that the key is stuck in the keyhole on the other side of the door, but there‘s nothing you can do about it.  Walk down to the next section of the hallway. 

 

Enter door on the right, into the Bathroom.  

 

 

 

 

BATHROOM

 

There’s nothing much you can do here at the moment.  Explore the bathroom, and when you’re ready, leave the bathroom. 

 

 

 

 

2ND FLOOR HALLWAY

 

Walk left along the Hallway.  Head through door on the left, and enter the Conservatory. 

 

 

 

 

CONSERVATORY

 

Walk left to the other end of the Conservatory.  Explore the room.  Look at contraption in the middle of the room.  Look at the unfinished painting on the left.  Look at ‘Leonara’ painting on the floor.  Look at apron on the floor, and notice the ‘H‘ motif.  It must belong to Hortencia, one of Zoltan’s wives.  When you’re ready, leave the room. 

 

 

 

 

2ND FLOOR HALLWAY

 

Enter door on the right. 

 

 

 

 

DON & ADRIENNE’S BEDROOM

 

This is yours & Don’s bedroom.  Turn on the TV in the corner on the right, but it’s just static.  Search chest of drawers on the left, and take MONEY from the drawer.  Walk down to the other end of the bedroom. 

 

Look at your laptop.  When you’re ready, leave the room. 

 

 

 

 

2ND FLOOR HALLWAY

 

Make your way back own to the 1st Floor Hallway. 

 

 

 

 

1ST FLOOR HALLWAY

 

Continue down to the Ground Floor. 

 

 

 

 

GROUND FLOOR ENTRANCE HALL

 

Head out the front door. 

 

 

 

 

MANSION EXTERIOR

 

Walk left to the barn. 

 

Try to open the barn doors - they are stuck.  Use the car, and drive into town.

HOUSE

 

A rather fierce dog is guarding the house, and doesn’t appreciate your presence, and barks loudly… and continuously! Pet the dog.  Open mailbox next to the gate, and look at the letter inside.  The sender has written their name at the top left of the envelope.  I wonder who ‘R Williams’ could be!!!  Walk left to leave the house. 

 

 

 

 

EDGE OF TOWN

 

Walk up & right into town. 

 

 

 

 

TOWN STREET

 

Look at Lou Ann’s Antiques - it’s closed at the moment.  Enter Robert Thompkins Realty. 

 

 

 

 

ROBERT THOMPKINS REALTY

 

After the cut scene, talk to Robert, and ask about keys for your new estate.  He claims that he gave you all the key he had, but allows you to check his filing cabinet.  So let’s do that.  Search his filing cabinet on the left, and take the KEY.  Look at settee on the right, and sit down on the settee.  Look at the coffee table in front of the settee, and flick through a magazine.  Get a drink from the water cooler if you like.  When you’re ready, stand up and leave the office. 

 

 

 

 

TOWN STREET

 

Walk left along the street. 

 

Look at Nipawomsett General Store it‘s closed at the moment.  Continue down, and you find yourself back at your car. 

 

 

 

 

EDGE OF TOWN

 

Use the car to return to your mansion.

MANSION EXTERIOR

 

Head up towards the front door, and enter the mansion. 

 

 

 

 

GROUND FLOOR ENTRANCE HALL

 

Walk down to the other end of the Hall.  Go through door on the far side of the room, so you are in a small corridor. 

 

 

 

 

CORRIDOR

 

Use KEY in the door at the end of the corridor.  The KEY fits!  You enter the Library. 

 

 

 

 

LIBRARY

 

Sit down at the table in front of you, and read the magazine on the table - it features a review of the Phantasmagoria Horror Show.  Stand up again.  Look at the desk in the top right corner, and take STATUE from the desk.  Use the STATUE using the giant Eye at the bottom right of your Control Panel.  Turn the statue around, so you can see the back of his head.  Push the statue head, to reveal that it’s really a LETTER OPENER.  Open the desk drawer and read Zoltan’s letter - he‘s wanting to purchase a valuable magic boo.  Examine the fireplace 2 times.  Your hand accidentally pushes a loose brick, revealing a hole in the bricked up fireplace.  Look through the hole - you see a Chapel behind the brick wall.  Unfortunately, you can’t pull any more bricks loose with your hands.  Use LETTER OPENER in the brick wall in the fireplace.  You’re able to pry some bricks loose now, giving you access to the Chapel.  But you broke the LETTER OPENER in the process.  When you’re ready, go right, through the fireplace, into the Chapel. 

 

 

 

 

CHAPEL

 

Walk towards the altar.  Look at the big book on the altar, and you automatically place it on the nearby podium.  The book contains Carno’s family tree.  As you are reading through the book, a hinge mysteriously works itself loose from the box that’s on the altar.  Open the box.  A green mist flies out, and escapes the room.  What have you done, Adrienne?  You suddenly hear a yell from Don, and so you go to see if he’s okay. 

 

 

 

 

BATHROOM \ DARK ROOM

 

You find Don lying on the floor.  The light from the ceiling fell on his head.  Watch the cut scene to end the Chapter.
