FORT
Watch a cut scene as you are reunited with your beloved Elaine.
You’re so happy, you propose to her, using the DIAMOND RING you
found in the Treasure Room on the Pirate Ship. Unfortunately, you find
out too late, that the DIAMOND RING is cursed. You
unwittingly turn Elaine into a gold statue. She’s not gonna be happy
about that! Look at Elaine - you’ve got to un-curse her somehow.
Pick up GLOWING EMBER that’s lying on the ground nearby.
Look at plaque and look at feral chicken. Now walk right to the Map
Screen.
MAP SCREEN
You see an overview
of Plunder Island. Each location is marked with a ‘?‘ until you visit
it. Go to Swamp on the left.
SWAMP
This is a very
sinister looking place! Walk towards the wrecked ship. BOO!
It’s Murray! Talk to Murray and work through all the dialogue with
him. When conversation is over, enter the wrecked ship.
Hmm, you didn’t expect this inside a wrecked ship. Look at the
gumball machine, and use BAG OF NICKELS with the gumball
machine to get PACK OF GUM. In your Inventory, look at PACK
OF GUM, and chew PACK OF GUM to get some CHEWED
GUM. Look at paper voodoo dolls on the floor. Pick up PIN from
the voodoo doll. Now look at the stuffed alligator, and pull alligator
tongue. You should have known it - Voodoo Lady rises up from below.
Work through all the dialogue with Voodoo Lady. She points out that
Elaine, being a solid gold statue on an island full of pirates, is in danger of
being stolen. True enough, some pirates steal her and sail off with her
to Danjer Cove. You HAVE to go after her and rescue her! Continue
working through the dialogue with Voodoo Lady. She tells you that you
need you need to find an UNCURSED RING, in order to save Elaine,
and that you can find an UNCURSED RING on Blood Island.
But how can you get to Blood Island? Apparently, you need 3 things to get
to Blood Island - a map, a ship, and a crew. When conversation is over,
leave the wrecked ship.
Walk down the path,
and return to the Map Screen.
MAP SCREEN
Go to Puerto Pollo
Town.
PUERTO POLLO TOWN
You can arrive in
town from either the left, or the right, depending on exactly where you click
on the map. Try to enter from the left.
Look at the
lemonade stand. Talk to Kenny, the small pirate, and work through all the
dialogue. Buy some lemonade from him… only to learn about his bottomless
mug policy. His mug has no bottom in it, so the lemonade goes straight
through the mug. Walk right a few steps, and look at the dye vat - red
dye number 2. This will come in handy later on. Look at mysterious
flowers which are covering entrance to the jungle - you’ll need something sharp
to hack your way through. Walk right a few steps, and enter Blondebeard’s
Chicken Restaurant.
PUERTO POLLO TOWN - BLONDEBEARD’S RESTAURANT
Blondebeard will
ask if you have a reservation. Since you don’t, he’ll throw you straight
out. Dang!
PUERTO POLLO TOWN
Walk right a few
steps, and look at the Long John Silver Theatre. Try to enter the front
door, but it’s locked. Never mind, enter through the side door (on the
left of the building) instead.
PUERTO POLLO TOWN - LONG JOHN SILVER THEATRE
Look around the place. Look at pirate coat that’s hanging on the
coat stand , and take DANDRUFF from the coat.
URGH! This isn’t dandruff at all! It’s LICE!
Take GLOVE from the coat pocket. Pick up MAGIC
WAND from the dressing table. Use MAGIC WAND with
the magic hat to perform a trick, then take BOOK that appears
in the magic hat. In your Inventory, look at BOOK to
learn that it’s a VENTRILOQUISM BOOK. Walk right to the
stage.
Talk to Slappy
Cromwell, and work through all the dialogue. When conversation is over,
walk left 2 screens, to leave the theatre.
PUERTO POLLO TOWN
Walk right a few
steps, then climb down the steps to the Barbery Coast barber. Enter The
Barbery Coast barber.
PUERTO POLLO TOWN - THE BARBERY COAST BARBER
Inside the barber’s shop, you’ll see 3 pirate-barbers. Talk to
Edward VanHelgen (dapper pirate on the left), and work through all the
dialogue. He won’t join your crew unless you give him sufficient insult,
and beat him in a duel. When conversation is over, use your GLOVE to
slap him. He accepts that as an olden-day challenge to a duel, and takes
you out to the field behind the barber shop.
FIELD BEHIND THE BARBER SHOP
Edward VanHelgen shows you 3 open cases, each containing a gun, and
invites you to ‘choose your weapon’. However, guns are not really
your weapon of choice. Close the middle gun case, and choose the banjo
case at the back instead. What follows, is a musical play-off.
Watch carefully as he plays his solo, paying special attention to the strings
he emphasis. This changes for every game, so play close attention.
Then it will be your turn. You must duplicate what he played, choosing
the correct strings he emphasised, in the correct order. After 2 rounds,
you’ve proved you can beat him. But then he gets carried away with how
good he is, and plays another solo. You’ve had enough. Take PISTOL from
the gun pile next to him, and use PISTOL to shoot his banjo.
Shooting his banjo is the ultimate insult. You’ve earned his respect, and
he’ll agree to join your crew. One down, two to go. You
automatically return to the Barber Shop.
PUERTO POLLO TOWN - THE BARBERY COAST BARBER
Talk to Cutthroat
Bill (bald pirate in the middle), and work through all the dialogue. He
won’t join your crew unless you show him some valuable treasure.
Notice the blue JAWBREAKER sweet on the floor, next to
the table. Pick up the JAWBREAKER.
Talk to Haggis McMutton (Scottish pirate on the right). He won’t
even talk to you, while he’s cutting Captain Rottingham’s hair. Looks
like you need to get rid of Captain Rottingham then. Wait until Haggis
puts his comb down on the small table. Use LICE with the
comb. Haggis will think that the lice came from Captain Rottingham.
He cuts off all the Captain’s hair, leaving him completely bald, then throws
him out of the barber shop. Now he can turn his attention to you.
Talk to Haggis McMutton, and work through all the dialogue. He won’t join
your crew unless you can beat him in a test of strength. Now, notice
those SCISSORS stuck in the ceiling? They could come in
handy. Try to use the handle on the side of the barber’s seat to raise
your chair, but Haggis just lowers it down again. You need to distract
Haggis somehow. Notice how Haggis keeps looking at the hairstyling book
on the table. And notice how that PAPERWEIGHT is keeping
the page open. Raise the chair up once - you automatically kick the PAPERWEIGHT away
with your foot. Haggis leaves, to find another paperweight. Now
raise your chair to the top, and then take SCISSORS from the
ceiling. Now leave the barber shop.
PUERTO POLLO TOWN
Walk left along the town, until see the lemonade stand again. Look
at mysterious flowers, which are in the archway between the lemonade stand, and
Blondbeard’s café. Use SCISSORS to cut the mysterious
flowers - you get an IPECAC FLOWER. Now use SCISSORS with
the undergrowth. You find yourself on a strange cliff, overlooking a
pirate ship.
STRANGE CLIFF
Look at the yellow sign. It warns you about snakes. Then you
get swallowed by a giant snake. This can’t be good! You need to
escape from the snake. Pick up FABERGE EGG from inside
the snake. Pick up CLEANER ATTACHMENTS from inside the
snake. Pick up LOTS OF STUFF from inside the
snake. Now look at all the stuff you have in your Inventory.
Mix IPECAC FLOWER into the PANCAKE SYRUP to
get SYRUP OF IPECAC. Now use SYRUP OF IPECAC with
the snake’s head. The ipecac will make the snake sick, and he’ll
burp you out again. Yippee!
Well… you’re out of
the snake… but you landed in a quicksand pit.
QUICKSAND PIT
Look at the plaque next to you. Uh-oh! Look at the thorny
plant next to you, and take THORN from the thorny plant.
Pick up a HOLLOW REED from the right. Look at the
life-saving vine on the left… that’s just out of reach. Look at the
branch that’s holding the vine in place. In your Inventory, tie
the PAPERWEIGHT to the HELIUM BALLOON, then
blow HELIUM BALLOON towards the vine. Now in your
Inventory, combine THORN with the HOLLOW REED to
create a PEA SHOOTER. Use PEA SHOOTER with
the floating balloon. The balloon bursts, dropping the paperweight onto
the branch, which releases the vine. You automatically grab the vine, and
pull yourself out of the quicksand. After escaping from the quicksand
pit, and find yourself in Danjer Bay.
DANJER BAY
Notice those sharks
swimming in the water, guarding the pirate ship! These must be the
pirates who took Elaine. Ignore the pirate ship for now Walk right
to the Map Screen.
MAP SCREEN
Go to the Cabana on
the right.
CABANA
Talk to Cabana Boy,
and work through all the dialogue. He won’t let you onto the beach
because you don’t have a Membership Card. Meanie! Walk left to the
Map Screen.
MAP SCREEN
Go back to Puerto
Pollo Town.
PUERTO POLLO TOWN
Enter Blondebeard’s
Chicken Restaurant.
PUERTO POLLO TOWN - BLONDEBEARD’S RESTAURANT
When Blondebeard
asks if you have a reservation, use the following dialogue option
- Of course I have a reservation!
You automatically show him your RESERVATION SLIP (you
got it from inside the giant snake). You’re now able to enter the
restaurant whenever you want. Look at the Quiet Patron seated at the
table. Push the Quiet Patron, and you realise he’s dead. Take SERRATED
BREADKNIFE from Quiet Patron’s back. For a bit of fun, look at
button (badge) on the table - ‘Ask Me About Grim Fandango’.
Take BUTTERY BISCUIT from barrel on the right. Eat BUTTERY
BISCUIT, only to find that it’s full of MAGGOTS. Now talk
to Captain Blondebeard, and work through all the dialogue. Notice his
gold tooth! You learn about his fear of El Pollo Diablo - the devil
chicken. You also learn that he’s lost his MEMBERSHIP CARD to
the Beach Club. Apparently, he lost it while he was cooking. Look
at gross chicken on the table. Take CLUBCARD from the
chicken skeleton.
Now… Captain Blondebeard’s GOLD TOOTH. Cutthroat Bill
might like that gold. So give your JAWBREAKER to Captain
Blondebeard. It has a nice crunch, and plenty of flavour. But now
he wants something chewy. Give him PACK OF GUM. He
blows a bubble, and you can see his GOLD TOOTH in the bubble
silhouette. Use PIN to burst the bubble, and he will
loose his tooth. Pick up GOLD TOOTH from the floor (near
arch on the left). Now leave the restaurant.
PUERTO POLLO TOWN
Walk right, climb
down the stairs, and enter The Barber Shop.
PUERTO POLLO TOWN - THE BARBERY COAST BARBER
Show GOLD TOOTH to Cutthroat Bill. He agrees to
join your crew. You just need one more person for your crew now.
Haggis McMutton won’t join unless you can beat him in a test of strength.
Leave the Barber Shop.
PUERTO POLLO TOWN
Walk up through
archway on the right, into the field behind the Barber Shop.
FIELD BEHIND THE BARBER SHOP
Look at the log
pile. Logs are used for Toss The Caber events. This could be a way
to show your strength to Haggis McMutton. Except… you’re not very
strong. Maybe there’s a way to fool Haggis? Walk up to the grassy
knoll, where the keg of rum is.
Use SERRATED BREADKNIFE on the sawhorse (supporting the
keg of rum). The keg will fall, leaving a trail of rum on the
ground. Use EMBER ON STICK with the trail of rum.
One of the rubber trees explodes, and lands on the log pile. Handy.
Return to the Barber Shop.
PUERTO POLLO TOWN - THE BARBERY COAST BARBER
Talk to Haggis
McMutton, and challenge him to a caber toss. He takes you to the field
behind the Barber Shop.
FIELD BEHIND THE BARBER SHOP
Watch the cut
scene. Thanks to your rubber tree trick, you win the challenge, and
Haggis McMutton agrees to join your crew. He takes you back to the
Barber Shop.
PUERTO POLLO TOWN - THE BARBERY COAST BARBER
Well, you have 3
members for your crew now. You just need a ship, and a map. Leave
the Barber Shop. Watch the cut scene.
PUERTO POLLO TOWN
Walk right to the
Map Screen.
MAP SCREEN
Go to the Cabana on
the right.
CABANA
Show CLUB CARD to the snooty Cabana Boy. He’s
appalled to learn you have membership, and therefore, access, to the
beach. But he can’t deny you now. Work through all the dialogue
with him. Take DRY TOWEL from the pile at the bottom
right, and dunk DRY TOWEL into the ice bucket, so you
get WET TOWEL. Use WET TOWEL with Cabana Boy
to shoo him away. Now pick up more DRY TOWELS from the
pile, and keep picking up DRY TOWELS until you can’t get any
more. Again, use DRY TOWELS in the ice bucket, so they
become WET TOWELS. Pick up COOKING OIL from
the counter. Now walk right, onto the beach.
Start walking up the beach, across the sand, towards the sunbather in
the distance. But the sand is boiling hot! You can’t make it a few
steps without yowling in pain. Use WET TOWELS with the
hot sand, and use them as a bridge to get across the sand. You’ve now
reached the sunbather.
Take MUG that’s resting on Sunbather’s tummy.
Talk to Sunbather, and work through all the dialogue. He demands you
fetch him another drink. When conversation is over, open gate on the
right, and go through gate to return to Map Screen.
MAP SCREEN
Go to Puerto Pollo
Town.
PUERTO POLLO TOWN
Go to lemonade stand on the left. Remember Kenny’s little scam
involving the ‘Bottomless Mug Policy’. Time to get some
revenge. Switch the Sunbather’s MUG with the BOTTEMLESS
MUG on Kenny’s stand. Now talk to Kenny, and ask for some more
lemonade. This time, you get to enjoy the lemonade, but Kenny runs off in
a huff, because he can’t scam you anymore. Take the blue PITCHER from
Kenny’s stand. Walk right a few steps, and use PITCHER with
the dye vat to get PITCHER WITH RED DYE. Return to the Map
Screen.
MAP SCREEN
Go to Brimstone
Beach on the right.
BRIMSTONE BEACH
Since you unlocked the gate on your previous visit, you can now come
straight to the beach, instead of going through the Cabana. Place BOTTOMLESS
MUG on Sunbather’s tummy, then pour PITCHER WITH RED DYE into
the BOTTOMLESS MUG. The result is red dye spreading all over
his chest. But Sunbather thinks he’s burning in the hot sun, and he turns
over, so he can get an even tan. Look at the map tattooed on Sunbather’s
back. Pour COOKING OIL onto his back, then peel the
resulting MAP away. All that’s left to do now, is to get
a ship. Return to the Map Screen. Watch the cut scene, as Zombie
Pirate LeChuck is resurrected once more.
MAP SCREEN
Go to Danjer Cove
on the left.
DANJER COVE
Walk left a few
steps, and look at the row boat. Row the boat out to the pirate
ship.
PIRATE SHIP
Use SERRATED BREAD KNIFE with the plank above
you. Climb up onto the ship’s deck.
Choose any dialogue
options for Mr Fossey, the First Mate. As punishment for sneaking on
board the pirate ship, you’ll be tarred and feathered. Afterwards, you’ll
automatically return to Danjer Cove.
DANJER COVE
Walk right to the
Map Screen.
MAP SCREEN
Go to Puerto Pollo
Town.
PUERTO POLLO TOWN
Enter Captain
Blondebeard’s Chicken Restaurant.
PUERTO POLLO TOWN - BLONDEBEARD’S RESTAURANT
In your current
state (tarred and feathered), Captain Blondebeard thinks you are El Pollo
Diablo. Choose any dialogue option. But Captain Blondebeard won’t
go down without a fight! He bashes you over the head, knocking you
unconscious. When you wake up, you’re on the Pirate Ship again.
PIRATE SHIP
You are stuck in a cooking pot - Captain Blondebeard delivered you to Mr
Fossey, thinking you are El Pollo Diablo. You HAVE to escape!
Notice that there’s a TREASURE MAP in the vase on the
table. Use VENTRILOQUISM BOOK with LeChimp to fool Mr
Fossey into giving up pirating. When Mr Fossey leaves, you automatically
take TREASURE MAP from the table. Now climb through
porthole behind the cooking pot.
Watch the cut
scene, as you make a frantic dash for shore, before the sharks get you.
DANJER COVE
Walk right to the
Map Screen.
MAP SCREEN
Go to Puerto Pollo
Town.
PUERTO POLLO TOWN
Enter the side door
of Long John Silver Theatre.
PUERTO POLLO TOWN - LONG JOHN SILVER THEATRE
Climb up stairs at
the back wall.
You’re overlooking the stage now, and you have full control of the
floodlights. If haven’t done so already, look at the TREASURE
MAP - ‘With All Eyes Open, Follow The Path To The X.
Hmmm, that sounds like a clue. Pull handle on the right to turn on
all the floodlights. That ‘X’ must indicate where Elaine is buried!
But you can’t dig her up while Slappy Cromwell is performing his act.
Look at the cannon balls in the now-opened crate next to door on the
left. Use COOKING OIL with the cannon balls, then watch
the cut scene as Slappy leaves the stages… very abruptly! Walk right,
onto the stage.
Pick up SPADE from ‘X Marks The Spot’, and then
dig.
