THE LEADER’S PALACE CELLS

PRISON CELLS 21, 22, 23

 

You wake up in Prison Cell 22.  After a conversation with Vlad, explore the cell.  You need to get out of here! 

 

Look through hole in the wall on the left, into the next cell, Cell 21 - it’s empty.  Flip the lever outside your cell, on the left.  This turns the lights out in Cell 21.  Look through hole in the wall on the left again - there are holes in Cell 21 that are only visible in the dark. 

 

Take BUCKET that’s in front of the cell.  Look at the BUCKET in your Inventory, then remove BUCKET HANDLE.  Interact with the BUCKET HANDLE to get STRAIGHTENED BUCKET HANDLE.  Now look at RING OF KEYS in the door of Cell 21.  Use STRAIGHTENED BUCKET HANDLE with the RING OF KEYS to snag them.  Look at RING OF KEYS in your Inventory.  There are keys to Cell 21 and Cell 23... But no key to your cell.  Damn! 

 

Look through hole in the wall on the right, and see the Traitor, Leshy, in the neighbouring cell.  He’s the one that betrayed you and turned you in.  Throw KEYS 21 AND 23 to Traitor in the next cell.  He gloats that he’s now free and you’re not, turns off the lights in your cell, then leaves.  And just as you had hoped, there are hidden holes in your cell that are only visible in the dark.  Move your bed to reveal a hidden passage in the ground.  Climb down into the hidden passage. 

 

 

 

 

DUNGEON ENTRANCE

 

You find yourself in another cell.  Explore the cell.  Look at the grate in the lower part of the cell door, and open the grate.  You see a prisoner being dragged past the cell door… and the poor prisoner is killed!  Take his BROKEN GLASSES that fell to the floor.  Look at BROKEN GLASSES in your Inventory to see that the lenses are slightly cracked.  Use RAZOR BLADE with the BROKEN GLASSES to get a LENS.  Step away from the grate. 

 

Look at the upper part of the cell door, and peek through the keyhole.  A guard patrols back & forth in front of the cell door.  Step away from the keyhole.  Look at the cell door again, and talk to the cell door.  Use the following dialogue option. 

 

 

        -       Say you’re hungry.

 

 

The guard pushes a bowl through the grate in the door.  Look at the grate in the lower part of the cell door, then look at the water in the bowl.  It looks rather disgusting!  Look at the SPOON in the bowl and take the SPOON.  Step away from the bowl and the grate. 

 

Look at the BLANKET on the bench on the left, and take the BLANKET.  A skeleton was hiding underneath the BLANKET.  Look at the skeleton, and look at his diary.  Flip through the pages of the diary to read it.  Look at the scribble on the last page - it’s tiny, and too small to read.  Use LENS with the scribble.  You see the following message. 

 

 

        -       Scrape off the brick shaped like a shoe

 

 

Hmm, could that be a clue?  Also note the strange shapes that have been cut out of the diary.  Now close the diary. 

 

Look at the cuffs hanging from the ceiling - they’re electrified.  Look at the switch in the wall on the right - there’s a cable running from the switch, to the cuffs in the ceiling.  Use the switch, and see the effect it has on the cuffs.  Yikes!  Use the switch again to turn the power off. 

 

Look at the wall on the right to see a close-up of it.  Remember the clue from the diary?  It’s not very obvious which brick the diary was referring to, so I’ve indicated it here. 

 

 




Use your SPOON on the relevant brick.  Wow!  Before you continue with your Great Escape plan, you should leave a decoy in your cell, so that the guards won’t realise you’re missing.  Climb up hole in the ceiling. 

 

 

 

 

PRISON CELLS 21, 22, 23

 

Place BLANKET on the bed.  It will take the guards a while to realise that the rolled up BLANKET isn’t really you.  Now move the bed, and climb down to the Dungeon. 

 

 

 

 

DUNGEON ENTRANCE

 

Climb up the newly revealed Upward Passage on the right. 

 

 

 

 

LEVEL 5

 

Explore the small room.  Look at the OLD ROPE hanging on the wall, and cut it with your RAZOR BLADE.  There’s nothing else you can do here, so climb back down the ladder, down to the Dungeon Entrance. 

 

 

 

 

DUNGEON ENTRANCE

 

Look at the grate in the lower part of the cell door again.  Soak your OLD ROPE in the bowl of disgusting water to get WET ROPE.  Step away from the bowl and the grate. 

 

Use WET ROPE with the cuffs hanging from the ceiling.  Use the switch in wall on the right, to turn on the electricity.  Now talk to the cell door to summon the Guard.  The Guard gets a very shocking surprise!  Look at the grate in the cell door, and take the GUN that the Guard dropped.  Look at the GUN in your Inventory, and open the GUN to find a BULLET.  Step away from the grate. 

 

Climb up the Upward Passage on the right. 

 

 

 

 

LEVEL 5

 

Look at the sun ray peeking through the boards in the ceiling, and note how the ray lands on the padlock in the door.  That gives you an idea.  Look at the padlock in the door on the left to get a close-up.  Insert BULLET into the padlock.  Use LENS with the padlock.  Since the padlock has a bullet insert, it acts like a bomb, and blows up.  Very clever!  Now simply step through the door, into the corridor. 

 

Watch the cut scene as Comrade Minister plots to overthrow the Leader.

PALACE COURTYARD

COURTYARD

 

Look at the fountain, and look at the camera.  Head through passage on the left, and note that the tunnel is completely flooded.  Climb up the ramp to get to the upper level. 

 

Look at Notice Board on the left, to get a clue about this week’s Password. 

 

 



 

Very cryptic clues!  Note that the Password consists the following. 

 

 

        -       Number

        -       Word

        -       Date

        -       Colour

 

 

Look at the choir, and talk to the choir.  The smoke from this morning’s execution has parched all the singers throats.  Look at Statue Under Construction.  Look at Wall Of Execution next to the Statue.  Talk to the Private digging the sand.  Apparently he’s just following orders, and he doesn’t know why he’s filling bags with sand.  Walk right a few steps, and enter the Palace. 

 

 

 

 

PALACE HALL

 

Look at the Guard, and talk to the Guard.  He asks for a Password, before he’ll let you into the Ministry Of War Room.  You don’t’ know the Password yet, so just Give Up.  Explore the area.  Notice the statue of the Leader on the left.  Take OAR from the statue.  Look at the Menu.  Today must be Friday.  You can tell this, because pork is being served on Friday, and there’s a giant pork on the table next to you.  Look at the Lieutenant General, and talk to him.  He won’t let you in to see the Leader, unless you have an authorised document.  Walk right and leave the Palace. 

 

 

 

 

COURTYARD

 

Note the flooded pool on the right, and look at the drifting bottle in the pool.  Use OAR with the drifting bottle to get BOTTLE OF WINE.  Now walk all the way left, and look at the Notice Board again. 

 

Look at Clue A on the Notice Board.  The ‘codes’ for each number, is actually the days of the week, with the first letter removed.  So Friday (RID) is #1

 

Talk to Private First Class, who seems to be winding wire.  What a confusing conversation. 

 

Give BOTTLE OF WINE to the choir.  This clears their throats, so they are able to sing.  As per the clue on the Notice Board, choose the following dialogue option. 

 

 

        -       Ask for the Airman song. 

 

 

Listen to the lyrics - very macabre.  Referring to the clue, the word you need is ‘Already’.  You can also listen to their other song, if you like. 

 

Walk right a few steps.  A tank has appeared outside the entrance of the Palace.  Click on the open hatch of the tank, and climb inside. 

 

In the tank, take CAN OPENER that’s hanging on the left.  Look at the Military Calendar on the wall on the right.  Flip through the calendar to December - the Leader’s Father’s Birthday is 18 December.  Close the Military Calendar, and leave the tank. 

 

Look at ‘The Leader’s Palace’ hotspot above the door of the palace.  As the camera pans up, notice that the 3rd flag is green.  Now enter the Palace. 

 

 

 

 

PALACE HALL

 

Talk to the Guard.  You should know all the parts to the Password now, so use the following dialogue options. 

 

 

        -       1

        -       Already

        -       December 18

        -       Green

 

 

You are now allowed to enter the Ministry Of War Room. 

 

 

 

 

MINISTRY OF WAR ROOM

 

Explore the room.  Look at photo camera on the left.  The camera needs to be assembled correctly, but you don’t have all the parts yet, so just leave the photo camera for now. 

 

Look at the monitor near the door - this shows the placement of cameras.  You need to redirect the cameras, so they show here, instead of the city streets.  Interact with the monitor, and notice that this affects what is shown on the huge screen on the right.  Leave the monitor for now. 

 

Climb up the ramp, to where the 3 Generals are.  Look at the Tactical Table in front of the Generals.  In the close-up, look at the cannon sitting in front of the Palace.  You can’t quite reach it, so wait until there are no other sticks on the board, then use your STRAIGHTENED BUCKET HANDLE to reach it (it might take a few attempts).  Look at it in your Inventory to see that it’s a CANDLE CANNON.  Leave the close-up. 

 

Look at the monitor behind the Generals, and look at the Control Station under the monitor.  In the close-up, the yellow buttons below the monitor represent various cameras.  Play around with them, to see what you can spy on.  The green button opens & closes doorways, as well as altering roadways.  Now press the following buttons. 

 

 

        -       Yellow button 2.  Green button to open the door.

        -       Yellow button 5.  Green button to open the passage. 

        -       Yellow button 9.  Green button to make road turn right. 

        -       Yellow button 10.  Green button to make road turn left. 

        -       Yellow button 11.  Green button to make road turn left. 

        -       Yellow button 12.  Green button to make road turn left. 

        -       Yellow button 13.  Green button to make road turn left. 

        -       Yellow button 14.  Leave this road as a left-turn. 

        -       Yellow button 15.  Green button to make road turn left. 

        -       Yellow button 16.  Green button to turn the bridge. 

 

 

You should have everything set up as you want, now, so press the following. 

 

 

        -       Yellow button 8.  Green button to let the tanks through.

 

 

Keep pressing the Green button until there’s no more tanks.  Leave the close-up of the screen. 

 

Use the monitor near the door to make sure that the planned tank route is showing on the huge screen next to the Generals. 

 

Look at the Photo Department window next to the huge screen, and talk to the Photo Department Employee inside the window.  Wow, the Comrade General really is a nasty piece of work!  Talk to the soldier on the right.  What a dutiful soldier - he won’t allow you access to the desk behind him.  Walk left to leave the room. 

 

 

 

 

PALACE HALL

 

Walk right to leave the Palace and return to the courtyard. 

 

 

 

 

COURTYARD

 

Notice that the pool on the right is now drained.  Also notice that the passage is now open, thanks to your work on the Control Station.  There’s also a Private here, barbecuing sausages.  Climb down the ramp on the right, and enter the drained pool.  Talk to the Private.  Now look at the brazier, and use CANDLE CANNON with the brazier to get LIT CANDLE.  Climb back up the ramps, to leave the pool 

 

A second tank has appeared, next to the 1st tank.  Take LADDER from tank on the left.  Walk right a few steps, and climb down the ramp, back down into the drained pool. 

 

Head through the opened tunnel, and you find yourself back in the area you began.  Climb up the ramp, to the upper level on the left. 

 

Look at the Statue Under Construction, and use LADDER with the Statue Under Construction.  Climb up the Statue Under Construction.  When you reach the top of the statue, look at the face.  Now take CLOSED CAN OF FOOD that’s hanging on the left.  In your Inventory, use CAN OPENER with CLOSED CAN OF FOOD to get a can of SPAM.  Eat the spam, and you’re left with an EMPTY CAN.  Use your CAN OPENER with the EMPTY CAN to get a TUBE.  Combine TUBE with the LENS, then combine that with the LIT CANDLE to create a TELEPHOTO LENS.  Leave the face to climb back down the statue. 

 

Climb down the nearby ramp, to return to the dug-out area you began in.  Head through either tunnel, and you find yourself back in the drained pool on the right. 

 

Climb up ramp on the right, up to the upper level. 

 

Walk left a few steps, and enter the Palace. 

 

 

 

 

PALACE HALL

 

Enter the Ministry Of War Room next to the Guard. 

 

 

 

 

 

MINISTRY OF WAR ROOM

 

Climb up the ramp, to where the 3 Generals are standing.  Use the Control Station behind the Generals to get a close-up view of the cameras.  Press the following buttons. 

 

 

        -       Yellow button 6.  Orange button to zoom in. 

 

 

You’ve zoomed in on Vladimir’s documents on his desk.  However, you still can’t make out what’s on the documents.  Leave the Control Station. 

 

Look at the photo camera on the bottom left.  Look at the Macro Lens in the camera.  Use your homemade TELEPHOTO LENS with the Macro Lens to get a more powerful zoom.  Use the red crank to open the frame slot.  Pick up Frame With Plate on the left, and insert it into the frame slot.  Use the red crank again to close the camera.  Use the Release Cable to get a close-up of the Viewfinder.  You should see a zoomed in view of Vlad’s documents.  Use the Release Cable again, to take a PHOTO OF DOCUMENTS.  Leave the close-up of the camera view.  Use the red crank to open the camera again 2 times.  Remove PHOTO PLATE from the camera.  Leave the photo camera. 

 

Walk right a few steps, to the Photo Department window.  Give PHOTO PLATE to the Photo Department employee in the window.  He develops it, and gives you the resulting PHOTO.  Look at PHOTO in your Inventory - this is proof of his whole conspiracy.  Leave the room. 

 

 

 

 

PALACE HALL

 

Walk left a few steps, and give the developed PHOTO to Lieutenant General.  He lets you enter The Leader’s Chambers. 

 

 

 

 

THE LEADER’S CHAMBERS

 

Watch cut scene with the leader.  After the cut scene, use telescope on the left, and see the people being ushered for execution.  Look at the trophies in the cabinet on the right.  In the close-up, look at the goblets and the medals, then take a GOBLET (any one will do).  Leave the trophies.  Leave the room. 

 

 

 

 

PALACE HALL

 

Walk right a few steps, and talk to Anna.  Watch the long cut scene.  Leave the Hall through door on the right. 

 

 

 

 

COURTYARD

 

Search the crate on the ground, in front of the tanks in the foreground.  You find some TANK AMMUNITION in the crate.  Click on the open hatch of the tank on the right. 

 

Inside the tank, use LIT CANDLE in the gun hole on the right to lubricate it.  Insert TANK AMMUNITION into the gun hole.  Now pull the lever.  Watch the cut scene. 

 

 

 

 

PALACE HALL

 

Walk left to the end of the Hall, and enter The Leader’s Chambers. 

 

 

 

 

THE LEADER’S CHAMBERS

 

Watch the cut scene.  There’s a stand-off between Vlad, The Leader, and Anna.  You also find out that Vlad is… your brother!  Grab SABER from column on the left, and use it to cut the rope on column on the right.  This triggers the security systems, and Vlad, The Leader, and Anna end up trapped underneath a curtain.  Use your OAR to hit the curtain. 

 

The 3 characters rise up underneath the curtain, but you’re not sure who’s who.  You know Anna is wearing a round helmet, so avoid that, but use your OAR to hit the other 2 characters a few times.  After hitting them a few times, watch the cut scene.  Now leave Chambers. 

 

 

 

 

PALACE HALL

 

Enjoy the final cut scene.  When prompted, choose any dialogue option. 

 

Congratulations, Evan.  You saved Matryoshka, and put an end to the evil Leader’s reign of terror.  You are a hero!
