INTRODUCTION

 

Watch the intro to find out how you, infamous cat burglar Trilby, became a Paranormal Investigator. 

 

 

 

 

SIMONE’S APARTMENT BUILDING

 

Your adventure begins as you as standing outside Simone’s apartment.  LOOK around the hall outside the apartments.  LOOK WINDOW to see the storm raging outside.  Walk over to door on the right (Simone‘s door), and KNOCK DOOR.  Repeat this 3 times.  You get no reply, but the doorman has assured you that Simone is in.  You decide to pick the lock, and get in that way instead.  If Simone’s in trouble, you need to help her.  PICK LOCK to enter the apartment. 

 

It’s pitch black inside the apartment.  Walk right a few steps, and OPEN BLIND.  When the lightning shines through the window, you can see a body on the floor.  EXAMINE BODY to discover that the body belongs to Simone.  She’s dead!  Brutally murdered!  Could this be the work of John DeFoe? 

 

 

 

 

CLANBRONWYN HOTEL

 

After some investigation, you find yourself at the Clanbronwyn Hotel, determined to find the idol that houses John DeFoe’s soul.  You are greeted by a Mr Lenkman, who informs you that he will also be investigating things. 

 

Watch a cut scene, as you sign into the hotel.  Professor Abed Chahal takes you up to his room, to discuss artefacts from the DeFoe Manor.  LOOK ROOMLOOK ABEDLOOK SIOBHANLOOK TVLOOK SETTEELOOK BED, and LOOK DESK.  Now ASK ABOUT IDOL.  Professor Abed tells you about a painting that came from the DeFoe Manor, but now hangs in the lobby of this hotel.  You recall the painting with utter dread!  You have a disturbing vision, then you leave the Professor’s hotel room. 

 

Outside the hotel room, you begin hallucinating, and you find yourself in a nightmarish, alternate version of the hotel. 

 

 

 

 

NIGHTMARISH ALTERNATE HOTEL

 

There is some graffiti on the wall, so LOOK WALL.  Yikes!  You’re standing outside Room 2B - OPEN DOOR to enter Professor Abed’s room again. 

 

The room is just as scary as the hall outside.  LOOK ROOMLOOK WALLLOOK SETTEELOOK TABLELOOK BEDLOOK WINDOW.  It’s all very gruesome!  But you can’t do anything in here, so when you’re ready, OPEN DOOR to leave the room. 

 

Walk through door on the left, into the stairwell. 

 

The stairwell is splattered with bloodstains, so LOOK BLOOD.  Climb up to the top floor to see the message ‘Bring Her Back’.  Now make your way down to the Ground Floor.  LOOK PAPER on the floor, to read some diary pages.  Now walk through door on the right, into the Lobby. 

 

In the Lobby, you’re beginning to doubt that John DeFoe is behind this evil, as it isn’t his style.  Which begs the question… who IS behind it?  LOOK ROOMLOOK WALL, then walk left to the next room. 

 

Walk over to the door in the back wall.  LOOK DOOR and OPEN DOOR to enter the Bar. 

 

In the Bar, LOOK ROOMLOOK POSTERS on the wall, LOOK ARCADELOOK COUNTERLOOK STOOLSLOOK WINDOW.  GET PLIERS from the counter.  When you’re ready, walk to door on the left, and OPEN DOOR to leave the bar. 

 

Back out in the hall, walk left into the Dining Room. 

 

In the Dining Room, LOOK TABLELOOK MEAT, and GET MEAT.  LOOK WALL to see the creepy message, and LOOK CORSPE to see the gruesome body nailed to the wall.  Walk over to the corpse, and USE PLIERS WITH CORPSE to free the corpse from the wall - you have another vision.  OPEN DOOR to enter the Bathroom. 

 

LOOK ROOM to examine the Bathroom, LOOK SINK and LOOK MIRROR.  Walk over to the counter, and LOOK COUNTER.  Now TAKE ENVELOPE.  Inside the envelope, is a pill bottle and a note from Officer Lenkman.  As per the note’s instructions, EAT PILL to return to normality. 

 

 

 

 

CLANBRONWYN HOTEL

 

You’re extremely relieved to find yourself back in the normal hotel again.  OPEN DOOR on the right to leave the Bathroom. 

 

You’re back in the Dining Room.  Head right, and continue right, until you reach the Lobby. 

 

Walk over to the painting hanging on the Lobby wall, then LOOK PAINTING and TOUCH PAINTING to see a flashback of Matthew DeFoe. 

 

 

 

 

DEFOE MANOR FLASHBACK

 

You are 15-year-old Matthew DeFoe.  You father has asked you to fetch some brandy from the kitchen. 

 

LOOK ROOM to see what the kitchen is like.  LOOK TABLELOOK APRONLOOK CABINETLOOK BRANDY, and TAKE BRANDY.  You hear a familiar banging from the door on the left, and you start talking to the door.  The door is locked, so SLIDE PAINTING UNDER DOOR.  At that moment, you hear your father yelling, and decide to investigate.  Walk over to door on the right, and OPEN DOOR to leave the kitchen. 

 

Back in the Trophy Room, you try to calm your father down, and you automatically give him the brandy.  Then you return to your room.  Watch another cut scene, then you automatically head back to the kitchen. 

 

In the kitchen, the door that was previously locked, is now ajar.  Walk over to door on the left, and OPEN DOOR.  Watch the cut scene, as you witness your father whipping a boy chained in shackles. 

 

 

 

 

CLANBRONWYN HOTEL

 

Professor Abed ends the vision, and brings you back to the present day.  You are Trilby again, and you are standing in the Lobby.  You ask the Professor about the ship named the ‘Sea Angel’, and he tells you about a chisel that was found amongst the DeFoe Manor artefacts, and is now kept in the Convention Room, here at the hotel.  When Professor Abed leaves, LOOK PAINTING again, and TAKE PAPER from the painting.  Walk over to the counter, LOOK COUNTER, and TAKE MATCHBOX.  Now head through door in the back wall, into the stairwell. 

 

In the stairwell, TAKE PILL if things start to get a little creepy.  Now climb up stairs to the 1st Floor, and walk through door on the right, into the 1st Floor Hall. 

 

LOOK WALL to see the smoke alarm next to Door 1B.  Walk over to the smoke alarm, and LIGHT MATCH to set the alarm off.  You experience another vision, then you hear a click from the fire escape door on the right.  Walk right to the fire escape door then OPEN DOOR to find yourself outside in the hotel back yard. 

 

LOOK at the yard, LOOK TABLELOOK CROWBAR, and TAKE CROWBAR.  Now walk back over to the ladder and CLIMB LADDER, so you are back in the 1st Floor hall. 

 

In the hall, walk left to the stairwell. 

 

Climb down the stairs to the Ground Floor, then walk through door on the right, into the Lobby. 

 

In the Lobby, head left, and continue left, until you reach the Dining Room. 

 

You need to be in the nightmarish version of the Dining Room.  If you’re not, simply leave the normal Dining Room, then return.  Repeat until you are in the nightmare world. 

 

 

 

 

NIGHTMARISH ALTERNATE HOTEL

 

Walk over to the boarded up door and USE CROWBAR ON BOARDS to pry the boards open.  Now EAT PILL, then OPEN DOOR to enter the room.  

 

 

 

 

CLANBRONWYN HOTEL

 

This is the Convention Room that Professor Abed mentioned, complete with artefacts from the DeFoe Manor.  LOOK TABLELOOK BOTTLELOOK CHISEL, and LOOK MANACLES.  TAKE BOTTLE from the table in the corner.  Walk over to the long table, and TAKE CHISEL.  There’s another flashback. 

 

 

 

 

SEA ANGEL FLASHBACK

 

Watch the cut scene with Mbouta.  You, as Mbouta, are rescued from the Atlantic Ocean, and taken aboard the Sea Angel in order to recover from your ordeal at the hands of the slavers.  You can’t communicate with the sailors verbally, since you don’t understand their language. 

 

You want to do something nice for the sailors, to thank them for rescuing you.  Walk right a few steps to the man working on the boat, and POINT CHISEL - the sailor gives you his chisel.  Walk left a few steps to the ladder, and CLIMB LADDER to climb down to the hold. 

 

LOOK CRATE in the hold, and USE CHISEL ON CRATE to carve an attractive idol for the sailors.  CLIMB LADDER again to return above deck. 

 

Above deck, you are greeted with a horrendous sight!  The sailors that had so kindly rescued you… have all been slain!  Your good intentions… all for nothing!  Walk right a few steps, and watch the cut scene as The Tall Man kills you, as well.  The flashback ends. 

 

 

 

 

CLANBRONWYN HOTEL

 

You’re back in the hotel.  Notice that someone has slipped a note under the door.  Walk over to door on the right, and LOOK PAPER to read the note.  Now OPEN DOOR to leave the Convention Room. 

 

In the Dining Room, Professor Abed is here, waiting to be served by the Waiting Staff.  You have nothing to discuss with him at the moment, so walk right into the next room. 

 

Walk to door in the back wall, and OPEN DOOR to enter the bar. 

 

In the bar, Siobhan.  ASK SIOBHAN ABOUT SEA ANGEL.  She confirms that her ancestors owned the ‘O’Malley Shipping Company’, then she asks you to meet her in her room - Room 2A - so she can give you more details.  When you’re ready, OPEN DOOR to leave the bar. 

 

Walk right to the Lobby. 

 

In the Lobby, walk through door in the back wall, into the stairwell. 

 

Climb up stairs to the 2nd Floor.  Now walk through door on the right, into the hall. 

 

Walk over to Door 2A, and OPEN DOOR to enter Siobhan’s room. 

 

In the bedroom, Siobhan confronts you about your true identity - she knows you are really Trilby, and that you were in the DeFoe Manor several years ago.  A vision gradually forms in front of you, and you see The Tall Man. 

 

When The Tall Man kneels down in front of you, KICK TALL MAN.  Everything returns to normal.  Except that you really kicked Siobhan, not The Tall Man.  You put her to bed, so she can rest.  Now walk over to the desk near the door.  LOOK DESKLOOK BACKPACK, and OPEN BACKPACK to find some text books, and a folder marked ‘O’Malley Family History’.  As you read through the folder, you experience another flashback. 

 

 

 

 

JACK FREHORN’S MANOR FLASHBACK

 

You are Jack Frehorn, and you have acquired a harpsichord made from some mysterious wood.  You are woken in the middle of the night, by the sounds of the harpsichord playing.  Is their an intruder in your home?  LOOK ROOMLOOK BED, and LOOK DESK.  Walk over to the desk, LOOK NOTESLOOK PISTOL, and TAKE PISTOL.  Walk over to stairs on the right, and walk down the stairs. 

 

The Tall Man is playing your harpsichord.  SHOOT TALL MAN to destroy the demon.  However, too late, you realise that you have shot your good friend Wilbur.  The flashback ends. 

 

 

 

 

CLANBRONWYN HOTEL

 

You’re surprised to see that Siobhan is no longer resting on the bed.  Someone has slipped a note under the door, so GET NOTE.  Now OPEN DOOR to leave the bedroom. 

 

Out in the hall, walk through door in the left, into the stairwell. 

 

 

 

 

NIGHTMARISH ALTERNATE HOTEL

 

You may find yourself slipping back into the Nightmarish Alternate version of the hotel at this point.  If this happens, EAT PILL.  However, your pills no longer work, and you are still stuck in this nightmare world.  You need to find a way to make your pills work again. 

 

 

Climb down the stairs to the Ground Floor, then walk through door on the right, into the Lobby. 

 

In the Lobby, head left, and continue left, to the Dining Room. 

 

You see Officer Lenkman exit through door on the left.  If you haven’t done so already, TAKE MEAT from the centre Dining Room table.  Now walk over to door on the left, and OPEN DOOR to enter the kitchen. 

 

The kitchen is pretty gruesome!  LOOK ROOMLOOK COUNTER and LOOK BODY.  Walk over to door in the back wall, and OPEN DOOR to enter the cellar. 

 

In the cellar, there are yucky beetles crawling all over the floor!  GIVE MEAT TO BEETLES - the beetles greedily swarm the meat.  Notice the water dripping down, over on the right.  Walk over to the right corner and LOOK WATER to learn that it has a strange colour.  Now DRINK WATER from the puddle.  The hellish nightmare disappears, and you’re back in the normal hotel. 

 

 

 

 

CLANBRONWYN HOTEL

 

LOOK ROOMLOOK CRATESLOOK WINE RACK, and LOOK BOTTLE.  When you’re ready, climb up the stairs to the Kitchen. 

 

Walk over to door on the right, and OPEN DOOR to leave the Kitchen. 

 

In the Dining Room, OPEN DOOR in the back wall, into the Convention Room. 

 

Professor Abed is in the Convention Room, and he asks if you’ve seen Siobhan.  ASK ABED ABOUT UNICORN, then walk over to the table and TOUCH UNICORN.  You experience another flashback. 

 

 

 

 

UNICORN INN FLASHBACK

 

You are Owen Sommerset, and you’re glad to have found this inn, just as a raging storm begins.  LOOK ROOMLOOK INNKEEPERLOOK BARLOOK ALE, and LOOK BENCH.  ASK INNKEEPER ABOUT ROOM.  However, the Innkeeper is reluctant to give you a room, as he fears that there is an evil lurking.  ASK INNKEEPER ABOUT EVIL to learn that the curse has already claimed the Innkeeper’s father, and he fears it will soon claim him.  ASK INNKEEPER ABOUT CURSE - he tells you that he doesn’t wish to flee, and he accepts that his family must pay for their sins.  ASK INNKEEPER ABOUT ROOM again, and he finally agrees to let you have a room for the night.  Walk over to door on the right, and OPEN DOOR.  You climb upstairs to your room. 

 

Up in the guest room, LOOK ROOM, LOOK DRESSER, and LOOK BEDS.  Now walk over to bed on the left, and SLEEP for the night.  In the early hours of the next morning, you are woken by a strange smell.  Notice the smoke rising up from the corner of the floor.  LOOK SHEET and TAKE SHEET, then walk down the stairs. 

 

There’s a fire blocking the front door.  USE SHEET ON FIRE to extinguish the flames.  You’re shocked and dismayed to find the Innkeepers charred body.  The flashback ends. 

 

 

 

 

CLANBRONWYN HOTEL

 

You’re back in the Convention Room of the hotel.  Someone has slipped a note under the door, so GET NOTE to read the message from Officer Lenkman.  Open door to leave the room. 

 

In the Dining Room, walk through door on the right, into the next room. 

 

Walk over to door in the back wall, and OPEN DOOR to enter the Bar. 

 

In the Bar, ASK ABED ABOUT INN.  However, he doesn’t want to talk to you right now.  In fact, he seems rather drunk.  ASK ABED ABOUT HEAD.  He refuses to talk to you until you get him a drink.  Walk over to door on the left, and OPEN DOOR to leave the bar. 

 

Walk left to the Dining Room. 

 

In the Dining Room, walk over to door on the left, and OPEN DOOR to enter the Kitchen. 

 

In the Kitchen, if you find yourself back in the nightmarish world, simply EAT PILL to return to normal.  Now walk over to door in the back wall, and OPEN DOOR to enter the cellar. 

 

Watch the cut scene as the Welder closes in on you.  Just as seems like there’s not escape… the Welder disappears!  Phew!  Walk over to the wine rack and TAKE BOTTLE of wine.  Now climb up the stairs to leave the cellar. 

 

In the Kitchen, OPEN DOOR on the right, into the Dining Room. 

 

In the Dining Room, walk through door on the right, into the next room. 

 

Walk over to door in the back wall, and OPEN DOOR to enter the bar. 

 

Well, you have some alcohol for Professor Abed… but where is Professor Abed?  OPEN DOOR on the left to leave the bar. 

 

DRINK COLA, then OPEN DOOR in the back wall again, to return to the bar. 

 

 

 

 

NIGHTMARISH ALTERNATE HOTEL

 

Reality has shifted, and you’re in the nightmarish alternate version of the hotel.  Professor Abed is also here.  LOOK BODY to learn about the Professor’s sad demise.  He was an innocent victim in all this!  Walk over to the Professor’s body, and TAKE HEAD.  Now EAT PILL, walk over to door on the left, and OPEN DOOR to leave the bar. 

 

 

 

 

CLANBRONWYN HOTEL

 

Reality has returned to normal.  Walk right to the Lobby. 

 

In the Lobby, LOOK DESK to see the porcelain leg.  Walk over to the desk, and GET LEG.  Walk to the office door behind the desk, and OPEN DOOR.  It’s locked.  USE LOCKPICKS in the door to pick the lock.  Now OPEN DOOR to enter the office. 

 

In the office, LOOK ROOMLOOK SAFELOOK DESK and LOOK SHELF.  TAKE LEG from the shelf.  Now OPEN DOOR to leave the office. 

 

Back in the Lobby, walk over to door on the right, and OPEN DOOR to go outside. 

 

Lying on the ground outside, LOOK ARM and TAKE ARM.  OPEN DOOR in the back wall to return to the Lobby. 

 

In the Lobby, walk through door in the back wall, into the stairwell. 

 

Climb up stairs to the 3rd Floor, then walk through door on the right, to the 3rd Floor hall. 

 

Walk right a few steps, to Door 3C, and OPEN DOOR to enter your bedroom. 

 

In your bedroom, walk over to the bed.  LOOK ARM and TAKE ARM.  Now walk over to door on the left, and OPEN DOOR to leave your room. 

 

Out in the hall, head left into the stairwell. 

 

You need to be in the nightmarish world now.  If you’re not there, walk back and forth between the 3rd Floor hall, and the stairwell. 

 

 

 

 

NIGHTMARISH ALTERNATE HOTEL

 

When you’re in the nightmarish hotel, return to the stairwell, then climb up stairs to the top floor. 

 

Notice that there is a mannequin pinned to the wall on the right.  ATTACH LIMBS to the mannequin, so that the body is intact.  Now climb down the stairs to the 3rd Floor.  EAT PILL, then walk through door on the right, into the hall. 

 

 

 

 

CLANBRONWYN HOTEL

 

Everything is normal again.  Head back through door on the left, into the stairwell. 

 

Climb up stairs to the top floor, then OPEN DOOR on the right, to find yourself on the roof. 

 

LOOK ROOFLOOK FENCELOOK PAPERLOOK STONE, and GET STONE.  You are transported into another flashback. 

 

 

 

 

CLANBRONWYN ISLAND FLASHBACK

 

Watch with horror, as your father is brutally slain by The Tall Man.  GET STONE from the ground, and THROW STONE at The Tall Man.  The flashback ends.

 

 

 

 

CLANBRONWYN HOTEL

 

You’re back on the roof of the hotel.  Watch the cut scene with Siobhan.  After you finish talking to Siobhan, you automatically walk left, into the stairwell. 

 

 

 

 

NIGHTMARISH ALTERNATE HOTEL

 

You’re back in the nightmarish alternate version of the hotel.  You read the note you found under the stone - it’s from Officer Lenkman, asking you to meet him in the basement.  Climb down the stairs to the Ground Floor, then walk through door on the right, into the Lobby. 

 

In the Lobby, head left, and continue left, to the Dining Room. 

 

In the Dining Room, walk over to door on the left, and OPEN DOOR to enter the Kitchen. 

 

In the Kitchen, walk over to door in the back wall, and OPEN DOOR to enter the Cellar. 

 

In the Cellar, walk over to the hole in the floor, near the wine rack, and ENTER HOLE

 

You find yourself in a spooky cavern, deep below the hotel.  Walk over to the stump, and TOUCH STUMP.  You experience another flashback. 

 

 

 

 

CLANBRONWYN PENINSULA FLASHBACK

 

You are Cabadath, a Celtic Druid.  Watch the cut scene with your friend Galdn.  You take Galdn into your hut, and proceed to raise a demon from the depths of beyond.  Your intentions are for the demon to protect your land.  However, things go badly wrong, and the demon proves too powerful for you.  He takes you captive, enslaves your soul into a tree, and torments you over the centuries, until the remains of your humanity have long gone!  You are now just a soulless slave of the demon you raised. 

 

 

 

 

CLANBRONWYN HOTEL

 

The flashback ends, and you’re back in the basement of the hotel.  Watch a cut scene with Siobhan and Officer Lenkman.  It’s only now that you realise that Officer Lenkman isn’t who he claims to be.  In fact… he’s rooting for the demon, and is trying to bring the ancient prophecy to light!  Oh dear!  When you refuse to join Lenkman’s cult, he stabs you, ties you to the stump, and also ties up Siobhan.  As soon as you are able, TALK SIOBHAN - plead with Lenkman to let her go, but he refuses.  TALK CHZO to discuss the ancient demon.  TALK BOOK to ask what the prophecy says about you.  Now try to STAND, but that only makes your pain worse.  You can’t move.  All you can do, is watch, as Lenkman begins the ritual to summon Chzo.  Wait for The Tall Man to fully materialise, and when he approaches you, do the only thing left to stop the ancient prophecy - choose to DIE

 

You are ready for the end… you are ready to be free of this world, and from your duty.  But an unknown force brings you back to life, as you still have work to do. 

 

Now sit back, and enjoy the ending, as you ponder over what to do with the Idol that houses John DeFoe’s soul.  Hope you enjoyed the game.
