SPIELBERG TOWN
Welcome to Spielburg. Here's a MAP to help you find your way around.
Well, you came here to prove yourself a hero, so let’s get started.
After the Sherriff greets you, tell him your name. Now, it would
be good to know a little bit more about this town, so you know
what you’re up against, as you try to become a hero. So ASK
ABOUT SHERIFF, ASK ABOUT SPIELBURG, ASK
ABOUT HERO, ASK ABOUT BARON, ASK ABOUT
WOLFGANG, ASK ABOUT GUILD HALL, ASK ABOUT MONSTERS, ASK
ABOUT BRIGANDS, ASK ABOUT MERCHANT, ASK ABOUT
TREASURE.
Notice the Hero’s Tale Inn. That looks like a good place to
get information, so enter it. Shameen, owner of the Hero’s Tale
Inn, greets you warmly. ASK ABOUT INN, ASK ABOUT
SHAMEEN, ASK ABOUT SHEMA, ASK ABOUT HOMELAND, ASK
ABOUT ABDULLA, ASK ABOUT ROBBERY, ASK ABOUT FATE, ASK
ABOUT BRIGANDS, ASK ABOUT WEALTH, ASK ABOUT
CARAVAN, ASK ABOUT TOWN, ASK ABOUT KATTA, ASK
ABOUT GUILD HALL, ASK ABOUT MAGIC, ASK ABOUT
MONSTERS. Phew, that was a lot of information!
Anyway, it’s been a long walk to Spielburg, and you’re feeling
hungry. Walk over to the table, and SIT down.
Shema will come out from the kitchen to greet you, so say HELLO to
her. Now ORDER FOOD, and when Shema returns, EAT the
food. That tasted good! When you’re ready, STAND up
and leave the Inn.
After talking to the sheriff, and Shameen, you know that the
Guild Hall is to the left, so let’s pay it a visit. Walk left
to the next screen.
Enter the Guild Hall on the left. What an interesting place.
Notice that desk against the back wall - READ LOG BOOK, SIGN
LOG BOOK, and READ LOG BOOK again. Now go
over to the Quest Board and LOOK BOARD to see 6 posters
hanging up. Click on each poster to read details about each
quest. Looks like you’ve got your work cut out for you, if you
want to become a hero. Now exit the close-up. Notice the
Guild Master, Wolfgang, fast asleep in his chair. Walk over to
him, and TALK MAN. Now that he’s woken up, ASK
ABOUT WOLFGANG, ASK ABOUT GUILD HALL, ASK ABOUT
BARONET, ASK ABOUT TROLL, ASK ABOUT ADVENTURER, ASK
ABOUT HERO, ASK ABOUT CURSE, ASK ABOUT
MONSTERS, ASK ABOUT BRIGANDS, ASK ABOUT ANTWERPS, ASK
ABOUT BABA YAGA, ASK ABOUT DAUGHTER, ASK
ABOUT YORICK, ASK ABOUT PURPLE SAURUS, ASK ABOUT
GRYPHON, ASK ABOUT DRAGON, ASK ABOUT CHEETAUR, ASK
ABOUT MOOSE. That’s all the information Wolfgang can give you,
so leave the Guild Hall.
Enter the Magic Shop (it has a big eye above it). Walk up to
the counter, and the shop owner, Zara, will appear. ASK
ABOUT ZARA, ASK ABOUT SPIELBURG, ASK ABOUT AURA, ASK
ABOUT ERANA, ASK ABOUT MAGIC, ASK ABOUT SCROLLS, ASK
ABOUT FLAME DART, ASK ABOUT FETCH, ASK ABOUT
OPEN, ASK ABOUT BARON, ASK ABOUT TOWN, ASK
ABOUT BABA YAGA. Now BUY FETCH spell. You’ll
need to buy more spells from her later, but you
can’t afford them just yet, so leave the shop for now.
Head right twice, to the Farmer’s Mart. Hilde, the Centaur, runs
the Farmer’s Mart stall, so BUY APPLES from her.
Repeat this 5 times, so you have 50 apples (you‘ll thank me
later). Now talk to Hilde, and ASK ABOUT CENTAURS, ASK
ABOUT FATHER, ASK ABOUT BRIGANDS.
Walk down again, and then walk down through the town gates.
SPIELBERG FOREST
Those apples are really weighing you down - maybe you should
do something about that!
If you meet any enemies outside the town, simply RUN away
- you’re not ready to deal with them yet. Now walk right, and
continue right, until you reach the avalanche. Then turn around, and
head back to town (but don’t go through the town gates). Walk back
and forth between town and the avalanche. Eventually, you will see a
fox trapped in a snare. FREE FOX - he’ll thank you, and
give you some good advice. Now walk up one screen, and head
right, until you meet Brauggi. He’s hungry, so GIVE FRUIT to
Brauggi (aren’t you glad you bought all those apples now?), and he will
give you a glowing gem in return.
Now let’s head back to town. Walk left once, down once, and
left twice, so you are back at the town gates.
HEALER’S RING QUEST
Walk up once, to the Healer’s Hut. Now if you read the Quest
Board, you know that the Healer has lost her ring. KNOCK
DOOR, and the Healer will let you in. What a quaint little
house. ASK ABOUT RING, ASK ABOUT POTIONS, ASK
ABOUT COMPONENTS (remember the components she‘s looking
for), ASK ABOUT MAGIC, ASK ABOUT MANA. Leave
her hut.
LOOK NEST up in the tree, and LOOK BIRD.
Hmmm, I wonder if that bird stole the Healer’s ring, and hid it
up there? CAST FETCH on the nest. Repeat this
until you manage to get the ring. KNOCK DOOR again, and
the Healer will let you in.
GIVE RING to the Healer, and she will reward you with 6 gold
pieces and 2 healing potions. You automatically leave the hut.
THE CASTLE
Walk up once, to the castle gates. Karl, the Gate Keeper is
patrolling above the gate - ASK ABOUT CASTLE, ASK
ABOUT BARON, ASK ABOUT BARNARD, ASK
ABOUT ELSA, ASK ABOUT YORICK, ASK ABOUT BABA
YAGA, ASK ABOUT CURSE. Now ask him to OPEN GATE.
Head up through the gate, and enter the castle grounds.
Inside the courtyard, the Weapons Master might be here. If he‘s
not, don‘t worry. You‘re not a fighter, so you don‘t need to bother
with him.
Walk right to the stables. The stable hand will ask if you’re
looking for work, so tell him YES. He’ll set you to
work, raking up the stables. It’s hard work, but you’ll get
5 silvers for your troubles.
Now walk left to the castle courtyard, then walk down to leave
the castle grounds.
SPIELBERG TOWN
Walk down twice, and then left through the gates, so you are back
in Spielburg Town. Go left, and enter Zara’s Magic Shop.
Approach the counter, and Zara will appear. BUY OPEN spell
- this allows you to open things. Now leave the Magic Shop.
Walk right twice. The Dry Goods shop is next to Hilde, so enter
it. The shop keeper is busy reading a book, and doesn’t notice
you come in, so TALK MAN to get his attention.
BUY FLASK from him, and repeat this 3 times, so you have
3 flasks. Since you’re here, LOOK ARMOR. You
can’t afford it yet, but you can come back for it later. When you’re
ready, leave the shop.
Walk left to Tavern Street. Enter the alley to see Sam begging on
the street. GIVE SILVER to him, and then you can
question him, so ASK ABOUT NIGHT, ASK
ABOUT BRIGANDS. When you’ve finished talking, leave the
alley. Sam will give you a parting warning not to drink the
Dragon’s Breath in the Tavern.
Enter the Tavern. Notice that white thing on the floor, near
the stool. GET NOTE to learn some information
about 2 people with the initial ‘B’. Now DROP NOTE,
to replace it where you found it, and avoid suspicion. SAVE
YOUR GAME HERE. Now order some drinks from the bar if you
like (including the Dragon’s Breath, hee hee!), and DRINK them.
When you’re ready, Restore your game, and leave the Inn.
Check the time, and when it’s evening (walk around town for a
while, if it‘s still the afternoon), return to the Hero’s Tale Inn.
Abdulla Doo is here, and he is very upset about the Brigands
robbing him. Walk over to the table and SIT down.
When Shema appears, ORDER FOOD, then EAT food
when she returns. Now talk to Abdulla, and ASK ABOUT ABDULLA, ASK
ABOUT BRIGANDS, ASK ABOUT SHEMA, ASK ABOUT SHAMEEN.
Poor Abdulla has had a hard time recently, so show him some sympathy
- GIVE MONEY and GIVE RATION to him.
You can’t do anything else for him, so STAND, walk over
to Shameen, and PAY ROOM. You automatically enter room
at the back left of the Inn. Whew, what a day!
The next morning, SIT at the table and ORDER
FOOD. When Shema brings your breakfast, EAT the
food. Now you’re ready for some more adventuring, so STAND, and
leave the Inn. Walk down through the town gates. If Bruno is
here, GIVE SILVER, and GIVE SILVER again,
then ASK ABOUT BABA YAGA, ASK ABOUT CASTLE, ASK ABOUT
GOBLINS. But don’t worry if he’s not here. SAVE
YOUR GAME HERE.
SPIELBERG FOREST
Walk up once to the Healer’s Hut, then walk left once to
meet Heinrich the Centaur. You already met his daughter, Hilde, in
the town. Approach him, and ASK ABOUT CENTAUR, ASK
ABOUT HEINRICH, ASK ABOUT HILDE, ASK ABOUT FARM, ASK ABOUT BRIGANDS, ASK
ABOUT LEADER. Hmm, it seems that there’s more to
the brigand leader than meets the eye! SAVE YOUR GAME HERE.
Head up, and continue up to the very top. If you meet any
enemies, just RUN. Now go right once, and then up
once. You’ve now reached Erana’s Peace.
ERANA’S PEACE
Erana’s Peace is a magical place that has mystical healing
properties. This is the best place to SLEEP at
night from now on, as you will be fully healed by the next morning.
You can also EAT FRUIT from the tree every day to
satisfy your hunger.
Since you are a Magic User, READ RUNES on the big
stone. Now CAST OPEN on the stone. LOOK
HOLE, and GET SCROLL to get the Calm Spell.
Now GET FLOWERS for the Healer (2 or 3 should
be enough for now - you can come back and get more later). Now,
as beautiful as this place is, you can’t stay here forever. You
have quests to solve! SAVE YOUR GAME HERE.
ERASMUS
Well you’ve had a good night’s sleep, and a good breakfast in
Erana‘s Peace. Let’s go and meet the Magic User known as
Erasmus.
From Erana’s Peace, walk down, left, down, right twice, down,
and right twice. You’ve reached Mount Zauberburg, which is
where the eccentric Erasmus lives. Head up the mountain path,
taking note of all the amusing signs that appear. Did I
mention, Erasmus is rather eccentric?
When you reach his purple castle at top of the mountain, you’ll see
a gargoyle sitting above the castle, guarding it. He will ask
you 3 questions, so make sure you answer them correctly. If
you’ve been paying attention to what the townspeople have told you,
you should know the answers. The possible questions are:
WHAT IS YOUR NAME: Enter your name
WHAT IS YOUR QUEST: Hero
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE COLOUR: Purple
WHOSE SPELL PROTECTS THE TOWN: Erana
WHOM DO YOU SEEK: Erasmus
WHAT IS THE BARON’S FIRST NAME: Stefan
THIEF’S PASSWORD: I Don’t Know
Now enter the castle, and do as the gargoyle says - go straight upstairs
to the tower, and don’t touch anything.
SIT down to talk to Erasmus, and Fenrus the rat. ASK
ABOUT ERASMUS, ASK ABOUT FENRUS, ASK ABOUT
ERANA, ASK ABOUT MAGIC, ASK ABOUT BABA YAGA, ASK
ABOUT ZARA, ASK ABOUT WARLOCK, ASK ABOUT BRIGAND, ASK ABOUT
ELSA, ASK ABOUT HENRY, ASK ABOUT CURSE, ASK
ABOUT COUNTERCURSE.
Erasmus senses the magic within you, and wants to play a game
of Mage’s Maze with you. However, you’ll need the Open Spell,
Fetch Spell, Trigger Spell, and Flame Dart Spell in order to play.
Since you don’t have those spells yet, you can come back
later, if you want. I’ve never quite figured out how to play
this game, but maybe you’ll have more luck. Thankfully, Mage’s Maze
is not necessary for completing the game.
When you’ve had enough of Erasmus’s jokes, simply STAND, and
he will send you back to bottom of the mountain.
SPIELBERG FOREST
Let’s explore some more. From Erasmus’s place, go left twice,
up once, and left 3 times.
SPITTING FLOWERS
These strange flowers are known as Spitting Flowers. Watch as
they spit their seed to each other. A seed like that must be
highly sought after - if only you could get it. CAST FETCH at
the Spitting Flowers. Repeat this until you manage to get the seed.
GOBLIN CAMP AND MAGIC SPELLS
From the Spitting Seeds, go down 3 times, and left twice, to
the Goblin Camp. This is not a nice place to be! Check
your stats, and if your health is low, DRINK HEALING POTION,
and SAVE YOUR GAME HERE.
Now since you are a magic user, you don’t have to fight the
goblins. However, having some fighting skills is a good way of
getting money, which you will need.
You won’t be able to do much at first, so take things slowly. Let
one of the goblins approach you, and FIGHT him.
Use the Arrow keys to move your sword, and the Up Arrow key to
attack. To begin with, just fight one goblin. After you have
defeated him, SEARCH BODY to get any goodies he was
carrying. Keep an eye on your health and stamina, and when it
gets too low, RUN right one screen, and REST for
10 minutes. Keep RESTing until you’re too impatient to
rest anymore. Then return left to the goblin camp.
Remember, you can always RUN mid-fight, if your health or
stamina are getting too low. Also remember to SEARCH
BODY of the goblins that you kill, and when you have enough
money, you can buy some more Healing Potions from the Healer.
Also take this time to practice your magic, in between
fighting goblins - CAST OPEN, and CAST CALM, CAST
FETCH, and try to get your skill level up to at least 80.
You don’t need to bother with Zap.
When evening comes, make your way up to Erana’s Peace (right
3 times to the Centaur, Up 4 screens to the top, right once,
and up once). The next morning, EAT FRUIT from
the tree, and then return here to the camp to train.
Keep practising your fighting skills until you can comfortably defeat
7 goblins. This will take you several days.
SPIELBURG TOWN
When you have a decent amount of money, head back to the town, and
enter Zara’s Magic Shop. Approach the counter so that Zara
will appear. Now BUY FLAME DART from her. Now
leave the shop, and leave town.
SPIELBERG FOREST
You‘re good at casting spells now, so let‘s explore some more.
Return to the Goblin Camp, and walk down twice to the
Mushroom Ring.
MUSHROOM RING
The Mushroom Ring is a very magical place. TAKE MUSHROOMS (2 or
3 should be enough for now).
THE DRYAD
Walk right once and down once, and you’ll see a white stag. The
stag will run away, so follow it left. Keep following it left,
until it leads you to the Dryad (you feel as though the eyes of the
forest are watching you). Walk left a little bit, and the Dryad
will introduce herself. She will ask if you are at one with the
woods, so tell her YES. She will ask if you will
give her the seed of the Spore Spitting Spires (the
spitting flowers), so tell her YES, and give her the
seed. She gives you the recipe for a Dispel Potion, before
returning to her tree. Look carefully on the ground, and notice that
she left a magic acorn behind. GET ACORN.
DISPEL POTION
Since the Dryad gave you the recipe for the Dispel Potion, you
should start collecting ingredients for it. You’re going to
need this potion later on. Okay, let’s get started.
Magic Acorn: This is found next to the Dryad’s
tree, after you have given her the seed from the Spitting Flowers.
Fairy Dust: This can only be found at night time.
You MUST have an empty flask for this. Now check the
time, and wait until it‘s dark. From the Dryad’s tree, head
right once, and then up once to the Mushroom Ring. Look at the
fairies dancing around the ring. Aren’t they pretty? Just
make sure you don’t go inside the mushroom circle. They will ask you
to dance, so tell them YES, and then DANCE for them.
When you have finished dancing, ASK ABOUT MAGIC,
and ASK ABOUT FAIRY DUST. They will give you some (as
long as you have an empty flask). Tell them THANKS.
Green Fur: You can get some green fur from the Meeps.
Meeps are cute little critters that live in holes under the
ground. Now from the Mushroom Ring, walk up once and left
twice. Notice how they keep popping out of their holes. Wait
for one of the Meeps to pop up, and then TALK MEEP.
They’ll talk amongst themselves for a while, then the Green Meep
will jump out and talk to you. ASK ABOUT MEEPS.
Remember you are a Magic User, so ASK ABOUT MAGIC, and
they will give you the Detect Magic spell. ASK ABOUT FUR,
and ASK ABOUT GREEN FUR. The Meep will drop some of his
green fur on the ground for you, as well as a magic scroll - TAKE
FUR, TAKE SCROLL, and tell him THANKS.
Flowers From Erana’s Peace: Head all the way
back up to Erana’s Peace, and GET FLOWERS. If it’s
getting late, remember to SLEEP here for the night.
Flying Water: Again, you need an empty flask for this one.
If you don’t have any, you can buy some from the Dry Goods shop
in town. Now you can find Flying Water at the Flying Falls,
which is found at the very bottom right of the map. If you find
yourself at the Mirror Lake, simply walk up once and right once.
Now there’s a beautiful waterfall here. DRINK water
to quench your thirst, and then GET WATER to store some
of the flying water in your empty flask.
‘ENRY THE ‘ERMIT
You have all the ingredients for the Dispel Potion now. But since
you are here, at the Flying Falls, you might as well talk to ‘Enry
the ‘Ermit. Notice the door in the Cliffside. CAST DETECT MAGIC,
and a ladder will appear, leading up to the door. CLIMB
LADDER, and then KNOCK DOOR. After knocking on the
door, stand on the right edge of the door, so it doesn’t knock you off the
cliff.
Inside ‘Enry’s cave, ASK ABOUT ENRY, ASK ABOUT CAVE, ASK ABOUT
MAGIC, ASK ABOUT TRIGGER, ASK ABOUT BRIGANDS, ASK ABOUT
WARLOCK, ASK ABOUT MAGIC, ASK ABOUT SCROLL.
Now tell him YES you want the scroll, and
then TAKE SCROLL to gain the Trigger Spell.
You can’t do anything else here, so leave the cave and CLIMB
DOWN the ladder.
DISPEL POTION AND THE HEALER
You have all the necessary ingredients, but you don’t know how
to make the Dispel Potion. Never mind, the Healer will make it
for you.
Return to the Healer’s Hut, and KNOCK DOOR to enter.
You automatically tell the Healer about the Dryad and the
Dispel Potion. Now GIVE ACORN, GIVE FAIRY DUST, GIVE
FUR, GIVE FLOWERS (repeat as many times as necessary,
until you don’t have any flowers left), GIVE FLYING WATER, GIVE
MUSHROOMS (repeat as many times as necessary, until you
don’t have any mushrooms left). Now BUY MANA POTION -
2 should do for now. The Healer will start preparing the Dispel
Potion. Leave the hut, and immediately KNOCK DOOR to
enter again. The Dispel potion is now ready, and she will give
it to you.
Since you are here, check your Inventory. You should have at
least 100 silver coins at this point. If not, go back, and
fight some more goblins at the goblin camp. Now BUY UNDEAD
UNGUENT, and then leave the Healer’s hut.
MAGIC SPELLS
You should have all the spells you need now. Now you just have
to practice your spell casting abilities. Over the next few
days, CAST OPEN, CAST FETCH, CAST
FLAME DART, CAST TRIGGER, CAST DETECT MAGIC, CAST
CALM. Get your skill level up to at least 80 for each
spell. You don’t have to worry about Zap.
Keep a close eye on your Mana levels. Casting spells will use up
your Mana, so you’ll have to BUY MANA POTION, BUY
VIGOR POTION, and BUY HEALING POTION from the
Healer. Which will cost money. Fighting goblins (and
brigands), SEARCH BODY afterwards, is a good way to get
more money. DRINK MANA POTION, DRINK VIGOR POTION, DRINK
HEALING POTION as necessary. Remember to return to
Erana’s Peace to SLEEP every night, and then EAT
FRUIT from the tree every morning.
Keep practicing your magic, until you have a skill level of at least 80.
BABA YAGA
No doubt, you’ve heard about the *ahem* charming Baba Yaga
by now. Let’s go and meet her.
Make your way to the Goblin Camp, but don’t bother fighting any
of the goblins this time. Now head up twice, so you are at
the wooden fence and the chicken hut. SAVE YOUR GAME HERE.
LOOK FENCE and LOOK SKULL. Notice that the skulls on top
of the fence have glowing eyes, but the skull on the gate has no
eyes. TALK SKULL, and then ASK ABOUT DEAL. He
wants a glowing gem for his eyes. Tell him YES you
agree to his deal. Now ASK ABOUT HUT and ASK
ABOUT RHYME to learn Baba Yaga’s secret rhyme. GIVE GEM to
the skull, and he will lower the gate. Walk up to the chicken
hut (but not too close, or you’ll get squished), and say HUT
OF BROWN NOW SIT DOWN. The hut will obediently squat
down. SAVE YOUR GAME HERE.
Enter the hut. Baba Yaga doesn’t like uninvited visitors, so
she turns you into a frog, ready to eat you. She asks if you have
a name, so tell her YES. She asks if you are brave,
so again, tell her YES. She asks if you will fetch her some
mandrake root, so tell her YES. Since you agreed to help
her, she transports you back outside her hut, and thankfully, she
restores you to human form.
SAVE YOUR GAME HERE. Now you only have one day to find
a Mandrake Root for dear old Baba Yaga, otherwise she‘ll turn
you back into a frog, and eat you. Okay, so from her hut, head
down 3 times and right twice, so you are in the graveyard.
Unfortunately, the Mandrake Root can only be taken at midnight.
Check the time, and do whatever you like for now, but stay close
to the graveyard. If you FIGHT any enemies,
remember to REST afterwards. When ‘You Are Getting
Tired’, you know that it’s midnight - the witching hour. SAVE
YOUR GAME HERE, USE UNDEAD UNGUENT on yourself,
and enter the graveyard. There’s a lot of ghosts
floating around, but they can’t hurt you, since you’re protected by
the Undead Unguent. Now the Mandrake Root is that red plant you
see. Walk over to it, and TAKE ROOT. If you hear
it scream, you know you’ve done it right.
Return to Baba Yaga’s hut (left twice, and up 3 times), and SAVE YOUR
GAME HERE. Tell the hut HUT OF BROWN NOW SIT DOWN to
enter the hut again. Baba Yaga will ask if you have
the mandrake root, so tell her YES. She will take the
root from you, then let you go.
Make your way up to Erana’s Peace, and SLEEP for the
rest of the night. Remember to EAT FRUIT from
the tree, when morning comes.
FREE THE MAN FROM IN THE BEAST QUEST
Time for another quest. You need to prepare yourself first,
though.
Head back to the town, and BUY APPLES from Hilde in
the Farmer’s Mart. Now leave town, head up to the Healer’s Hut,
and KNOCK DOOR to enter. BUY MANA POTION, BUY
HEALING POTION, and BUY VIGOR POTION - 3 of each
should be enough, if you can afford it.
Return to Erana’s Peace, and SAVE YOUR GAME HERE.
Walk down once and right once. There is a fierce ogre
here, guarding a cave. CAST FLAME DART at the ogre,
and repeat this until he‘s dead. Phew, all that spell
casting practice really paid off! After you defeat him, SEARCH
BODY and CAST OPEN on the chest that is
lying beside him. Now GET COINS, and you’ll be
are rewarded with 1 gold and 43 silvers.
Enter the cave, and see a bear chained to the floor. Poor bear!
What ever you do, DON’T fight him! Instead, FEED
BEAR (with the apples you bought from Hilde), and he will let
you past.
In the next cave, a Kobold is sleeping here. SAVE YOUR
GAME HERE. Notice the key around his neck. CAST
FETCH at the Kobold to get the key. Now CAST
DETECT MAGIC, to discover the invisible chest at bottom of the
cave. Make sure you’re not standing next to the chest, and
then CAST TRIGGER to activate the booby trap (you’re not
harmed, since you weren’t standing next to it), and CAST OPEN to
open the chest. Now TAKE COINS to get 10
gold and 60 silver.
Return left to the cave with the bear, and UNLOCK MANACLE using
the Kobold’s key. Wait… the bear… turns into Baronet Barnard
Spielburg - the baron’s missing son! He was cursed!
He’s not very grateful to you for rescuing him though, and
magically teleports himself back to the safety of his castle, using his
amulet. There’s nothing else you can do here, so leave the
cave.
THE CASTLE
Despite the Baronet’s arrogance, you should make sure he got home
safely. Make your way back to the castle. Karl, the Gate Keeper,
eagerly invites you in.
Walk up the castle grounds, into the castle. The Baron is
waiting for you, and he is very grateful about the safe return of his
son. When you get the chance, ASK ABOUT CURSE, ASK
ABOUT ELSA, ASK ABOUT BABA YAGA, ASK ABOUT BRIGANDS, ASK ABOUT LEADER, ASK
ABOUT WARLOCK, ASK ABOUT PROPHECY. Try to leave
the castle, but the Baron insists you stay for the night, so he can
show his gratitude. The next morning, he gives you the 50
gold reward for finding his son.
SPIELBERG TOWN
Return to town. Enter the Dry Goods shop, and BUY
CHAINMAIL.
HEALER’S HUT
Leave the town. Go up to the Healer’s Hut, and KNOCK
DOOR to enter. BUY HEALING POTION and BUY
MANA POTION - 3 of each should be enough.
BRING THE CHILD FROM OUT THE BAND QUEST
Let’s tackle another quest. You need to do some preparation
first, though. Return to Spielburg Town, and make sure you have
the chain mail armour from the Dry Goods shop.
Now head for the tavern, enter, and GET NOTE from the
floor near the stool to read it. The note is about meeting
someone at the archery range at noon, so keep your eye on the
time. Now DROP NOTE to put it back on the ground,
so the meeting can go ahead. Leave the tavern, and leave the
town.
From the town gates, go down one screen and check the time. When
the time is ‘midday’, SAVE YOUR GAME HERE. Go
left to the archery range, and see Bruno and Brutus talking. So
THAT’S who ‘B’ and ‘B’ are! Eavesdrop on their
conversation to learn about a secret entrance to the Fortress, as
well as the secret password - Hiden Goseke. Bruno will leave
now. SAVE YOUR GAME HERE. Now this bit is tricky -
it helps to slow down your speed. Go down one screen, and then
QUICKLY return here before Bruno sees you. Brutus is still here are
the archery range though, and you have to fight him. After he
is defeated, SEARCH BODY to get the key.
Head down once, left twice, and then down to ‘The Bouncer’.
Well, he certainly is a bouncer! This little creature is
known as an Antwerp. Run around the Antwerp so he won’t jump on
you, and then LOOK ROCK on the left. Repeat this
until you find the key- hole, then CAST OPEN to open
the door. SAVE YOUR GAME HERE, and say the password
- HIDEN GOSEKE - before you enter the cave, which will
cause the troll guard to retreat to back of the cave without
confrontation.
Inside the cave, follow the path round, and exit by the lower
right, to the next screen.
The cave leads you to the Fortress Gate. Toro the Minotaur
is guarding this gate. Check your stats, and DRINK
HEALING POTION if necessary. SAVE YOUR GAME HERE. CAST
CALM to send him into a nice, peaceful sleep. Now walk out
into the open, and CAST OPEN to unlock the gate.
Now OPEN GATE to enter the Fortress.
You’re in the Fortress courtyard now. Notice the 2 blockades
with a rug in between them. Whatever you do, don’t step on the
rug, because it is a trap. Make sure you LOOK around,
then SAVE YOUR GAME HERE. You may want to slow down
your speed here. Walk to the right slightly, and LOOK
ROPE to see the trip-rope. Those brigands don’t make
things easy, do they? STEP OVER ROPE to reach the edge
of the pit. There are 2 bridges here. Cross over the
bridge on the right (the one with the note). There is another
trip-rope here, between the sacks and the barrels, so make sure you LOOK
ROPE, then STEP OVER ROPE to enter the next room.
As soon as you enter here, SAVE YOUR GAME HERE. This
is another tricky bit, and it’s easy to die here. You’ve
reached the main hall now. CLOSE DOOR at bottom
of screen (the door you entered through) to prevent anyone else from
entering through this door. Now walk up to door on the right, with
the chair near it. Notice the brigands at the main door at the
bottom. They notice the door is closed. As soon as they
start to leave (not before), MOVE CHAIR to block door on the
right, and stop them from coming in that way. The only entrance
left, is the one on the left. Three brigands will enter from
the left, and they walk behind the table to get to you. As soon
as the first one is behind the table, PUSH CANDELABRA to the
right of the large table (next to where you are now) to stop them
from reaching you. Now quickly walk in front of the table, and after
the last brigand has passed the chair on the left, CLIMB
TABLE. Another candelabra will fall from the ceiling, onto
the 3 brigands, trapping them. Now OPEN DOOR at the
back wall, and enter up into the next screen.
SAVE YOUR GAME HERE. This is a very strange room. And
the man you see here is equally strange. He’s the brigand
warlock that you read about on the Quest Board. But he’s really
Yorick, the jester. ASK ABOUT ELSA so he knows that you
are a friend, not foe. He mentions something about Elsa being
enchanted, so ASK ABOUT CURSE and ASK ABOUT MAGIC.
Now make your way along the path, and Yorick will leave,
to tell Elsa that help is at hand. If you slip at any point in
this room, simply STOP.
Make your way to door on the right - you’ll fall through a
trapdoor and start rolling endlessly down the same path.
Simply STOP, to come to a halt. Again, enter door
on the right. You’ll end up on the left, above the yellow box.
Very confusing! PULL CHAIN in front
of you to open door at the top right. Quickly head back the way
you came, and walk up through the newly-opened door. You
find yourself in front of the blue door at top left now. OPEN
DOOR, and quickly step away before the door flattens you.
There’s another door behind the blue door, so again, OPEN
DOOR. Walk through this door.
SAVE YOUR GAME HERE. This room belongs to the
brigand leader. In case you haven’t figured it out yet, the
brigand leader is really Elsa, who has been enchanted. So DON’T
fight her! USE DISPEL POTION on Elsa to break the
enchantment. Elsa will finally remember who she really is.
Elsa and Yorick are extremely grateful to you. They return to
the castle using Elsa’s amulet, but you have to get out of here yourself. You
don’t have much time now, before the brigands break in. Walk over to
the desk, and GET HEALING POTION and GET
MAGIC MIRROR. Now quickly leave the room through the
passage on the right. You find yourself back outside the Antwerp’s
cave again.
Now you still have one more thing to do, before returning to
the castle.
DRIVE THE CURSOR FROM THE LAND
Spielburg has been plagued by the evil Baba Yaga for so long.
And you have a personal score to settle with her, for turning
you into a frog. It’s time to get even with her!
Return to Baba Yaga’s hut, and SAVE YOUR GAME HERE.
The skull will ask if you want to enter, so tell him YES.
Approach the chicken hut, and say HUT OF BROWN NOW SIT
DOWN, then enter the hut.
HOLD MIRROR up in your hand, and when Baba-baby tries to turn you back
into a frog, the spell is reflected back onto her, and she’s hopping
mad!
With Baba gone, the brigands disbanded, and both the
baron’s children returned, Spielburg is now free from the curse. And
you are a true hero! Congratulations are definitely in order.
Now sit back, as you, Abdulla, Shameen and Shema fly off on
the magic carpet, to adventures unknown.
The End!
