BLOOD ISLAND

SEA
Watch the cut
scene, as you and your crew battle a fierce storm, as you sail to Blood
Island. Eventually, you crash into the shore. That’s when Haggis
tells you that the crew are forming a mutiny. They’re leaving you, to
return to Plunder Island, so they can be barbers again. It seems you’re
on your own again, Guybrush.
SHIPWRECK
Pick up BOTTLE from the sand. Look at BOTTLE in
your Inventory, to see that it’s a BOTTLE OF SHAVING SOAP.
Try to take HAND LOTION next to Haggis, but he won’t let
you. Talk to Haggis and work through all the dialogue. He agrees to
give you the HAND LOTION if you can find him something similar
to tar, that he could use to repair the ship. When you’re ready, walk
left to the Map Screen.
MAP SCREEN
All locations are
marked with ‘?‘ until you visit them. Go to Elaine’s Clearing, which is
just to the left of the Shipwreck. It’s easy to miss, but it’s
there.
ELAINE’S CLEARING
Look at Elaine - she seems safe for the moment. Try to take CURSED
RING from her finger, but it’s really stuck on. Take note of the
fireflies - aren’t they pretty. Return to the Map Screen.
MAP SCREEN
Go to the Windmill
on the left.
WINDMILL
Look at the windmill blades. Take PEPPER from the
pepper plant that’s next to the door. Now walk down to the Map
Screen.
MAP SCREEN
Go to Cemetery at
the bottom of the map.
CEMETERY
Look at
plaque. Look at tombstone. Look at crypt. Look at tomb.
You can’t do anything else here at the moment. Walk down to the next part
of the cemetery.
Look at the old dog. Give your HALF-EATEN MAGGOTY
BISCUIT to the old dog. He’ll bite you (that’s important for
later on). Take some SMELLY DOG HAIR from the old
dog. Look at carved tombstone. Take CHISEL that’s
lying next to the carved tombstone. Take MALLET that’s
lying next to the carved tombstone. Look at the shack, and look at crack
between the doors - there’s no-one in there right now. Walk up 2 screens,
so you’re back at the Map Screen.
MAP SCREEN
Go to the
Hotel.
HOTEL
Walk right a few
steps, and look at the billboard. Now enter the hotel.
Talk to Madame Xima, the Fortune Teller, and work through all the
dialogue. She tells your fortune, and she predicts your death!
Gulp! Pick up the TAROT CARD she leaves on the
table. Talk to her again, and have her read your fortune again.
Then pick up the TAROT CARD she leaves on the table.
Repeat this, until you have 5 TAROT CARDS. Try to talk to the
Bartender. He has a terrible hangover, and he won’t talk to you until you
cure him. Look at BROCHURE on the counter next to
Bartender, and take BROCHURE. Look at RECIPE
BOOK at end of the counter, and take RECIPE BOOK.
Look at RECIPE BOOK in your Inventory, and turn the pages
until you see the hangover cure. You need egg, pepper, and hair of the
dog that bit you. Take CUSHION from the barstool
on the left. Go through archway on the left, and climb up the
stairs.
Look at all the
portraits on the wall. Pay special attention to the portrait of Baron C.
Lambert Chowder-Goodsoup. He looks a lot like the Bartender. Try to
take the portrait, but it’s nailed to the wall. Enter through door on the
left.
Have a look round the room. Notice NAIL in the
wall next to the door. Use your MALLET on the NAIL to
knock it through the wall. Now leave the room.
Back out in the hall, the portrait has fallen down now, since the NAIL is
no longer holding it up. Pick up NAIL from the
floor. Take PORTRAIT from the fallen frame. Try to
enter the far door, but it’s locked. Walk right, back down the
stairs.
Open door in the
back wall, next to Madame Xima. Enter through door, into the Storage
Room.
Look at the giant Wheel Of Cheese. Use your CHISEL on
the Wheel Of Cheese, and you get UN-MELTED HUNK OF NACHO CHEESE.
Look at fridge on the right, and take Big Whoop FRIDGE MAGNET.
Now leave the room.
Walk right, and
leave the hotel.
Return to the Map
Screen.
MAP SCREEN
Go to Strange
Lights near the volcano.
STRANGE LIGHTS \ VILLAGE
Take BLOCK OF TOFU from the table. Walk right a
few steps. Take MEASURING CUP and take AUGER from
small table on the right. Walk up to the edge of the volcano.
Talk to Lemonhead, and work through all the dialogue. Eventually,
you learn about the ‘Featured Guest’. But Lemonhead doesn’t know
what this guest looks like. In your Inventory, use AUGER with
the BLOCK OF TOFU to create a TOFU MASK. Now
use TOFU MASK. Lemonhead will think you’re the ‘Featured
Guest’ he’s been waiting for, and takes you up to witness the volcano
sacrifice ceremony. Throw UN-MELTED HUNK OF NACHO CHEESE into
the volcano. The volcano reacts violently, and lava begins to flow across
the island. Make your way back to the Map Screen.
MAP SCREEN
Go to Beach at
bottom of the map.
BEACH
Look at EGG in the tree on the right. You need
that egg, as part of the hangover cure for the Bartender. But notice how
it’s right above the rocks - it will surely break, if you knock it down.
Don’t worry, use CUSHION from the barstool on the rocks, to
create a soft landing. Now use your MALLET to hit the
rubber tree, knocking the EGG onto the CUSHION.
You automatically pick up the EGG. Return to the Map
Screen.
MAP SCREEN
Go to the
Hotel.
HOTEL
Enter the
hotel.
Give EGG to the Bartender. Give SMELLY
DOG HAIR to the Bartender. Give PEPPER to the
Bartender. He mixes up a batch of HEAD-B-CLEAR hangover
cure, drinks some, and gives you the rest. What a transformation!
Work through all the dialogue with him. Talk to the Bartender, and learn
that he’s Griswold Goodsoup. You also learn the tragic story of Minnie
Goodsoup. Poor Minnie! Now ask him for a drink, and make sure you
choose the drink with the UMBRELLA in it. When
conversation is over, take EMPTY JAR from the counter.
Now try to open HEAD-B-CLEAR, but the child-proof lock has you
beaten. Use CHISEL with HEAD-B-CLEAR.
Pour HEAD-B-CLEAR into your drink on the counter. Now
drink the spiked drink. Remember, the hangover cure causes severe
drowsiness. Now watch the amusing cut scene.
INSIDE THE CRYPT
You wake up, locked in a coffin, inside a crypt. Try to open
coffin in the bottom right corner, only to find you’re trapped. You’ve
been locked in a coffin! Well, Madame Xima did predict your death.
So did Voodoo Lady. Use CHISEL with the coffin lid at
the bottom right, to get out. Notice the NAILS sticking
out of your coffin - take the NAILS. Now you’re out of the
coffin, you hear a horrible pounding. Look at coffin in middle of the
room, and use CHISEL on coffin, to open the lid. Say ‘Hi’ to
Stan! You locked him in this coffin in the last game. He gives you
a LAMINATED BUSINESS CARD, before telling you how to get out of the
crypt. He plans to start selling Life Insurance, but he needs time to get
his office set up. When you’re ready, leave the crypt.
CEMETERY
Make your way up to
the hotel.
HOTEL
Outside the hotel, throw UN-MELTED HUNK OF NACHO CHEESE into
cooking pot on the right. Now that the lava is flowing again, the cheese
quickly melts. Pick up the COOKING POT. You
automatically drag it down to Haggis at the Shipwreck (it won‘t work, unless
Haggis has already agrees to trade you the hand lotion for a tar-like
substance).
SHIPWRECK
Haggis accepts the melted cheese as a substitute for tar. He can
use it to repair the ship. Pick up HAND LOTION next to
Haggis. Walk left to the Map Screen.
MAP SCREEN
Go back to the
Hotel.
HOTEL
Enter the
hotel.
Griswold (the
Bartender), and Madame Xima, don’t react to seeing you again, after your
‘death‘. Talk to Griswold again, ask why you weren’t buried in Minnie
Goodsoup’s crypt. It seems, you don’t get access to the crypt, unless you
are a Goodsoup. So you’ll have to convince Griswold that you’re part of
the Goodsoup clan. Climb up stairs on the left.
Notice the porthole in door on the left. In your Inventory,
use SCISSORS to cut PORTRAIT, then hang PORTRAIT (minus
the FACE) on the door. Now enter the room.
Inside the room,
look through the porthole in the door. Griswold Goodsoup is outside,
admiring all his relative’s portraits. Thanks to your handywork, he
suddenly notices Grandfather Goodsoup looking very different. Now leave
the room.
Climb down the
stairs.
Talk to Griswold,
and try to convince him you really are a Goodsoup - can’t he see the family
resemblance? He’ll test your knowledge of Goodsoup history, but of
course, you fail! Looks like you need to learn more about the family Goodsoup’s
history then. Climb up stairs on the left.
Try to enter the far door, but it’s still locked. Use LAMINATED
BUSINESS CARD on the door to jimmy the lock. Now open the far
door, and enter the room.
The bedroom is empty. Look out the window, and note how it looks
out over the cemetery. Creepy! Look at the bed, and pull down the
bed. But as soon as you move away from the bed, it flips up again.
Okay, pull down the bed, and use COFFIN NAILS in the bed to
hold it down. But that’s not quite enough, so use your other NAIL in
the bed. There! The bed is nailed down. Look at skeleton in
the bed, and take BOOK from the skeleton. Look at BOOK in
your Inventory - it’s the GOODSOUP FAMILY HISTORY BOOK. Just
what you were needing. Now leave the room.
Climb back down the
stairs.
Talk to Griswold Goodsoup, and start talking about Goodsoup
history. He tests you again, but you can just refer to the GOODSOUP
FAMILY HISTORY BOOK for the answers. Now he finally accepts you
as a true Goodsoup, and informs you that you’re entitled to all the privileges
that the Goodsoup name provides. That includes being buried in the
Goodsoup family crypt if you die. Time to put that to the test. Talk
to him again, and ask for a drink. He gives you some grog. Pour
some HEAD-B-CLEAR into the grog on the counter, and drink the
spiked grog. Once again, you die. But this time, you wake up in the
Goodsoup family crypt.
GOODSOUP FAMILY CRYPT
Look through
crumbling hole in wall on the left. Your head pops out into… Monkey
Island 1! Now walk left a few steps, and look at memorial plaque for
Minnie Goodsoup. Look at Ghost Bride, talk to Ghost Bride, and work
through all the dialogue. You learn her sad talk of how she was buried
here 1 week after her wedding day. You also learn that her true love -
Charles DeGoulash - disappeared under mysterious circumstances, after staying
at the hotel. When conversation is over, walk left to the end of the
crypt.
Take CROWBAR from the coffin. You hear a familiar
voice muttering away. Walk towards crack in the wall… and Murray leaps
out at you. Well… throws himself at you. Pick up MURRAY.
Now look through crack in the wall, and see Mort the Gravedigger. Talk to
Mort and work through the dialogue. Try to convince him to let you out of
the crypt, but he thinks it’s just a joke. Time for drastic action!
In your Inventory, use SKELETON ARM with the PASTE,
then use sticky SKELETON ARM with the lantern under the
cage. You now have a LANTERN. Now use MURRAY with
the LANTERN. Murray scares Mort, and convinces him to unlock
the crypt. Now walk right 2 screens, so you are out in the
Cemetery.
CEMETERY
Stan has set up his
office now - Mutual Of Stan. Walk right into the crypt \ Stan’s
Office.
Murray has a
tantrum, forcing you to leave Stan’s office.
Outside in the
Cemetery, Murray disappears again. Where did he go? Well, you don’t
have time to worry about that now. Enter Stan’s office again.
Talk to Stan and work through all the dialogue. He won’t sell you
life insurance without any collateral, so give him your GOLD PIRATE
TOOTH. He sells you the INSURANCE POLICY, and explains
that, in the event of your death, the bearer of that document will get a lot of
money. Leave Stan’s office.
Make your way up to
the hotel.
HOTEL
Enter the
hotel.
Go through door in
the back wall, into the storage room.
Look at file cabinet, and take DEATH CERTIFICATE from
the file cabinet. Look at DEATH CERTIFICATE in your
Inventory - it certifies that [insert whatever name you chose
earlier] met his demise here on Blood Island. Now leave the
storage room.
Walk left a few steps. Look at MIRROR on the wall
on the left, next to Griswold Goodsoup. Take the MIRROR.
Griswold won’t let you leave the room with this MIRROR, so you have
to fool him. Use the FACE (the one you cut out from the
portrait upstairs) with the mirror frame. Griswold thinks the mirror is
still there, but he comments on how he’s starting to look old. Now climb
up stairs on the left.
Enter the far room,
where you nailed the bed down.
In the bedroom, look at boarded hole above the bed. Use CROWBAR with
the boarded hole, to pry all the planks off. Now use CROWBAR on
the bed to pry the nails up. The bed flips back up into the wall.
Watch the sweet cut scene with Minnie Goodsoup and Charles DeGoulash.
Reunited at last! You automatically travel to the Goodsoup Family
Crypt.
GOODSOUP FAMILY CRYPT
Pick up ENGAGEMENT BAND from the floor. Now that
Minnie is marrying Charles, she doesn’t need this old engagement band
anymore. Now walk right, and leave the crypt. Watch the cut scene
with LeChuck.
CEMETERY
Enter Stan’s office
on the right.
Talk to Stan and try to cash in your Life Insurance Policy. Stan
doesn’t believe you’re dead (well, can you blame him?), and demands
proof. Show him your DEATH CERTIFICATE. Well, he has no
choice now - he pays you a lot of INSURANCE MONEY. When
you’re ready, leave the crypt.
Return to the Map
Screen.
MAP SCREEN
Go to Windmill on
the left.
WINDMILL
Look at the blades spinning round. Use your UMBRELLA on
the blades to ride up to roof of the windmill. On the roof, look at the
barrel, and use EMPTY JAR on the barrel to get JAR OF
SUGAR WATER. Now climb down the windmill. Return to the Map
Screen.
MAP SCREEN
Go to Elaine’s
Clearing, which is just to the left of the Shipwreck.
ELAINE’S CLEARING
Place JAR OF SUGAR WATER down on the tree stump.
The fireflies are attracted to it, and fly in, creating a bright light.
In your Inventory, use CHISEL with the JAR LID, so
the lid has holes in it. Now place JAR LID onto
the JAR OF FIREFLIES. Thanks to the holes in the lid, and
fireflies can still breath. Pick up your newly-created LANTERN.
Now return to the Map Screen.
MAP SCREEN
Go to the
lighthouse at bottom of the map.
LIGHTHOUSE
Look at the lens, look at the lantern post, and look at the
mirror. This old lighthouse is badly in need of repairs. Use
your FIREFLIES LANTERN with the lantern post. Use
your MIRROR with the broken mirror. The lighthouse is
working now. Leave the lighthouse, and return to the Map Screen.
MAP SCREEN
Go to the
Beach.
BEACH
You should see a Mysterious Figure in a boat. This is the
Ferryman. Talk to Ferryman and work through all the dialogue. He’s
like to take you to Skull Island, but he’s afraid of getting lost in the mist,
and he needs a compass. Okay then, let’s make him a compass.
Use MEASURING CUP with the seawater. Bite the cork out
of CAPTAIN NICK’S SHAVING FOAM BOTTLE. Use PIN with
the BIG WHOOP MAGNET, then use magnetised PIN with
the CORK from CAPTAIN NICK’S SHAVING FOAM BOTTLE.
Finally, use CORK with pin, with the MEASURING
CUP with seawater. You’ve now created a COMPASS.
Give COMPASS to the Ferryman. Now talk to the Ferryman
again, and he’ll take you to Skull Island.

SKULL ISLAND

PIER
The Ferryman warns
you about the evil King Andre, and Smuggler’s Cave, then you automatically
climb to top of the cliff.
CLIFFTOP
Talk to LaFoot, the
winch operator, to learn that Smuggler’s Cove is about half-way down the
cliff-face. You ask LaFoot to lower you down the cliff-face, but he loses
his grip, and you fall, very unceremoniously, back down to the pier.
PIER
Climb back up to
top of the cliff.
CLIFFTOP
Talk to LaFoot again, and ask him to lower you down again. But his
time, as you are falling, use your UMBRELLA, and it acts as a
parachute. This time, you land safely in Smuggler’s Cove.
SMUGGLER’S COVE
Work through all the dialogue with King Andre. Make sure he knows
how much money you’ve got. He’ll agree to sell you the GOODSOUP
FAMILY DIAMOND for AN AWFUL LOT OF MONEY. You only
have A LOT OF MONEY - you don’t have enough. So he
suggests a trade instead - if you can defeat him in a game of cards, he’ll give
you the GOODSOUP FAMILY DIAMOND. He must be very sure of his
skill in playing cards! Ask to be dealt in, then work through all the
dialogue. When you’re able, show your 5 TAROT CARDS to
King Andre, and win the round with your ‘Five Of A Kind‘. However,
King Andre and his goon don’t like being beaten, and they threaten to kill
you. Watch the cut scene, as you snatch the ENORMOUS DIAMOND,
and escape from the cove. The Ferryman takes you back to Blood
Island.

BLOOD ISLAND

BEACH
The Ferryman
decides he want’s a less dangerous line of work, and decides to leave, to
become a chef on Monkey Island. When you’re ready, make your way to the
Map Screen. Watch the cut scene with LeChuck.
MAP SCREEN
Go to Elaine’s
Clearing, which is just to the left of the Shipwreck.
ELAINE’S CLEARING
Look at Elaine. Try to pull the CURSED DIAMOND RING from
her finger, but it’s stuck tight. Use SLIPPERY GREASY HAND
LOTION with the CURSED DIAMOND RING on Elaine‘s
finger, then pull CURSED DIAMOND RING from Elaine’s
finger. This time, it slips off easily. In your Inventory,
place ENORMOUS DIAMOND into the ENGAGEMENT BAND to
get DIAMOND RING. Now place DIAMOND RING on
Elaine’s finger.
Well, it
worked! Elaine is un-cursed! Now watch the cut scene, as LeChuck
kidnaps both you, and Elaine, and drags you off to his Carnival Of The
Damned.
