TIPS FOR THIEVES

As you create your character, share your points between Stealth and Comms, giving most of the points to Comms.  The better you can communicate with others, then better you can Bargain with them when purchasing items.

Now you are a thief, so it’s important for you to be able to get in and out of places undetected.  As soon as you can, go into the Character Menu (the fancy square), and select the Sneak icon to sneak around.  If at any time the game takes you into a Normal walk, make sure to enter Sneak mode again.

INTRODUCTION

The intro cut-scene shows your showdown with Ad Avis from the last game, and then goes on to show how you came to be in Tarna - Rakeesh‘s homeland.  The intro is skippable, if you want to dive straight into the game.  But it’s good to watch it at least once.

TARNA

Welcome to Tarna.

After Uhura leaves, you begin your adventures in Kreesha & Rakeesh’s home.  Look around their home if you like - it’s a beautiful place.  Use Mouth Icon on yourself and Greet  Kreesha, then Tell About Shapier.  Talk to Rakeesh and work through all the topics.  Talk to Kreesha and work through all the topics.  Have a look at your Inventory, and note that Shema gave you a LETTER TO SHALLAH before you left Shapier.  When you’re ready, leave Kreesha’s home - as you are leaving,  Kreesha tells you she has booked a room for you at the nearby inn.

Outside Kreesha’s home, climb up stairs to the next screen, then climb up more stairs (on the right), and enter the Temple Of Sekhmet.  Sneak around the temple, and after a few seconds, an angry liontaur priestess will tell you to leave, since humans shouldn’t be in this temple.  However, the statue of Sekhmet comes alive, and gives you a quest to find the GEM OF THE GUARDIAN so that you may be judged.  Now leave the temple.

Climb down stairs on the left, so you are next to Kreesha’s home again,  but don’t enter.  Sneak down some more stairs and head left to the next area.

You’ve entered the bazaar - a wonderful marketplace where you can buy so many wonderful items.  The Junk Dealers are right at the beginning of the bazaar - talk to them and work through all the topics.  Now use Talk Icon on yourself, and try to Buy Junk Goods.

Unfortunately your money is no good here.  You need to visit the Money Changer, to change it to the local currency.  You can talk to the other stallholders if you like, but they’ll all say the same thing - they won’t accept your money.   SAVE YOUR GAME HERE, then head up, further into the bazaar.

As you enter the North end of the bazaar, you witness a dispute.  A thief steals from the Money Changer, and tries to make his escape.  Quickly throw a THROWING DAGGER at him.  It doesn’t injure him, it only stops him from escaping.  Alternatively, you can just run after him instead.  You won’t catch him this way - a guard stops him in the next screen.  You are asked to come to the Hall Of Judgement, because of your involvement in this incident.  The thief is declared ‘Honourless’ - the full extent of that sentencing will become apparent later on.

You are taken to King Rajah’s chambers.  Rajah is Rakeesh’s brother.   As soon as you are able, use the Talk Icon on yourself, and use the following responses:

Greet
Answer Rajah
Defend Rakeesh
Talk About Rakeesh
Say Goodbye

You now leave Rajah’s chamber’s.  Wow, what magnificent chambers he has.  Talk to the guards and work through all the topics.  Now, let’s get back to the task at hand - changing your money into local currency.  Sneak down the stairs and head left twice, so you are back in bazaar.

From the Junk Dealers in the Bazaar, sneak up one screen, to where you saw the thief.  The Money Changer is in his stall on the left.  Talk to him and work through all the topics.  Now click your MONEY POUCH on him, and exchange your 200 DINARS into 180 ROYALS.  Now you’re ready to buy stuff.  You’re just starting out, so you need to be careful with your money.  Talk to the Leather Merchant and work through all the topics (talking to people improves your Communication Skills).  Now use the Talk Icon on yourself and Make Purchase.  Select WATERSKIN, change the quantity to 3, then Bargain over the price - offer 150 COMMONS, then barter over the price until you’re both happy, then Purchase the item.  Talk to the Fruit Merchant, work through all the topics, but don‘t buy anything from him yet.  Now head right (or head back down again - you end up in the same place), so you are back to the start of the bazaar.

Talk to the Weapons Merchant and work through all the topics, but don‘t buy anything from him yet.  Talk to the Oil Merchant and work through all the topics, but don‘t buy anything from him yet.  Talk to the Junk Dealers, and if you haven’t already, work through all the topics.  Now use Talk Icon on yourself and Buy Junk Goods.  Select the TINDER BOX, then Bargain over the price - offer 150 COMMONS, then barter over the price until you are both happy, then Purchase the item.  Talk to the Honey Merchant and work through all the topics.  Now use Talk Icon on yourself and Buy Honey.  Bargain for the price, offer 50 COMMONS, barter over the price until you are both happy, then Purchase the item.  Now sneak down into another section of the bazaar.

Talk to the Bead Merchant and work through all the topics.  Now use Talk Icon on yourself and Buy BEADS.  You can try and barter over the price if you like, but the Bead Seller won’t budge - her BEADS are 95 COMMONS, so just purchase them.  Talk to the Fish Merchant and work through all the topics, but don’t buy anything from him yet.  Talk to the Rope Merchant and work through all the topics.  Now use the Talk Icon on yourself and Buy Rope.  Select ROPE, then Bargain over the price - offer 60 COMMONS, then barter over the price until you’re both happy, then Purchase the item.  In your Inventory, combine ROPE with your GRAPNEL.  Now use Talk Icon on yourself and Give Thief Sign to the Rope Merchant.  After he shows off for a bit, talk to him, and ask about Acrobatics.  Now use Talk Icon on yourself again and Train with him for 50 ROYALS.  You get a nice boost to your Agility Skills.  Continue down into the bazaar.

Talk to the Katta Wood Carving Merchant and work through all the topics.  Wait… this Katta is named Shallah - this is Shema‘s nephew!  Use Talk Icon on yourself, then Greet him and Tell About Shapier.  Now give him your LETTER TO SHALLAH.  Click your MONEY POUCH on him, and buy a WOODEN LEAPORD - since you gave him the letter, he‘ll give you the carving for free.  That’s nice of him.  Talk to the Meat Merchant and work through all the topics.  Now use Talk Icon on yourself and Buy Meat.  Here’s where you can get some food rations for dirt-cheap!  Change the quantity to 20, then Bargain over the price.  Offer 1 COMMON, and the Meat Seller will accept (poor Meat Seller!).  You can come back here and get more rations at any time.  Now talk to the Jewellery Merchant and work through all the topics, but don’t buy anything from him.  Talk to the Cloth Merchant and work through all the topics, but don’t buy anything from her.  You can try and talk to the drummer if you like, but he doesn’t understand you.  However, click your MONEY POUCH on the drummer to give him some COMMONS.

This is all you can do in the bazaar for now.  Sneak up twice, then right once, so you are outside the bazaar.

Now there are 3 buildings here - Kreesha & Rakeesh’s home is on the right.  Enter the middle building (with the plants on top) to find yourself in the Apothecary.  Salim runs this Apothecary, and he’s quite a character!  Talk to him and work through all the topics.  When you ask him about the tree, he tells you about the dream he’s been having about a tree-woman.  If you played QFG2, you’ll know this is Julanar.  Now use Talk Icon on yourself, and Say Hello, then Tell About Julanar.  Now since you’re in the Apothecary, you should buy some stuff.  Use Talk Icon on yourself and Make Purchase.  Select HEALING PILLS, change the quantity to 2, and Bargain the price.  Offer 5 ROYALS, then barter over the price until you are both happy, then Purchase the item.  Now select POISON CURE PILLS, change the quantity to 2, and Bargain the price.  Offer 10 ROYALS, then barter over the price until you are both happy, then Purchase the item.  That will do for now - you can come back for the other pills later.  Now leave the Apothecary.

Enter Kreesha’s home on the right.  Talk to her, and work through all the dialogue.  Rakeesh isn’t here right now - he’s talking with King Rajah.  But it’s nice to talk with her, so you know what’s going on.  When you’re ready, leave her home.  As you leave, Kreesha reminds you that Rakeesh will be making a pledge of peace before the Council, and you must stay within a day’s travel, so that you can attend this meeting.

Check the time.  Explore Tarna until evening (keep sneaking around, so you can practice your Stealth skills), when the stall holders pack up for the day.  I don’t recommend you leave Tarna at this point.

When it’s evening, return to the area with Kreesha’s home and the Apothecary.  Enter building on the left.  This is the Welcome Inn -  this is where you can have meals, and sleep for the night.  Be aware that while your room is free, you still have to pay for meals.  Look at the Quest Board, and look at the notices on the board, then Exit the board.  Now sit down on the empty cushion.  Talk to the Welcome Woman and work through all the topics.  Now use Talk Icon on yourself, and Say Hello, Tell About Shapier, Flirt with her if you like, then Order Meal.  Use Order Meal last, since that will end your dialogue.  After your meal, stand up and climb up stairs on the right to go to your room.

In your room, click on your bed, and Sleep Til Morning.

After a peaceful night’s sleep, you awaken the next morning feeling very refreshed.  Leave your room.

In the restaurant area, click on the empty cushion to sit down.  Talk to the Welcome Woman and work through all the topics.  Now use Talk Icon on yourself, Flirt with her, and then Order Meal.  After your breakfast, stand up, and leave the inn.

Enter the Apothecary.  Salim will ask about Julanar, so use Talk Icon on yourself and Tell About Julanar.  He’s excited to know that the woman from his dreams is actually real!  Now leave the Apothecary.

Head right to the next screen.  This is the Main Entrance of Tarna.  Talk to both guards and work through all the topics.  When conversation is over, SAVE YOUR GAME HERE.  Now climb down the steps.

WILDERNESS

You now see the Overview Map screen.  This gives you access to all other areas.  You are indicated by a little white dot, and your travel path is indicated by red dots.  Make your way to an area on the lower-right of the screen with 2 rocks.  It’s hard to identify, which is why it’s a good idea to have saved your game before you left Tarna.  Anyway, when you find this area, you’ll see some poisoned vines and some meerbats.  The vines contain fruit, and the meerbats are playing ‘Tag‘ with the vines.  Don’t approach the vines - they are poisoned and they will hurt you.  Use your MAGIC GRAPNEL HOOK on the centre vine to retrieve the VINE FRUIT.  Leave the area, then immediately return.  The meerbats are still playing ‘Tag‘, but this time, one of the little critters gets caught in the vines.  Poor little thing!  Maybe you could help him?  Pick up some ROCKS from the ground, and throw ROCKS at the vine, to free the meerbat.  Leave the area again, and then immediately return again.  The little meerbat you saved is watching out for you, and has collected some things that he leaves for you, before diving into the safety of his hole.  Take the FIRE OPAL that the meerbat left for you (also take VINE FRUIT if you don‘t already have it), then leave this area again.

Remember that Rakeesh will appear before the Council tomorrow, so make your way back to Tarna.  If it’s late enough, the game will automatically take you back to Tarna, anyway.

TARNA

Head for the Welcome Inn, and go up to your room to sleep for the night.

After a peaceful night’s sleep, you awaken early next morning, and head for the meeting with the Council.  Rakeesh pledges himself to bring peace to Tarna.  You are asked if you will also Swear The Oath, so say Yes.

You and Rakeesh, once again, find yourself in Rajah’s chambers.  As soon as you are able, use the Talk Icon on yourself, and use the following responses:

Greet
Talk about Honour
Tell about Rakeesh
Say Goodbye

Watch the cut scene, as you and Rakeesh travel to the Simbani Village.

SIMBANI VILLAGE

The village Elder, Mzee Mngoje, greets you, then Rakeesh takes you down into the village, to be reunited with Uhura.  After a brief conversation, Uhura will take you to meet the Laibon (the Simbani leader).  Just like Rajah, you must show the Laibon respect.  As soon as you are able, click the Talk Icon on yourself, and Greet the Laibon.  Now Talk to the Laibon and work through all the topics.  After some conversation, the Laibon will ask you to leave.  Eventually, you and Rakeesh will end up in the guest hut - this guest hut offers a safe place to sleep whenever you like.  Rakeesh tells you he will be leaving, and returning to Tarna, at first light.  Talk to him, and work through all the topics.  Now use Talk Icon on yourself, and Tell About Day, then Say Goodnight.  Saying Goodnight triggers the end of the day, and you and Rakeesh go to sleep for the night.

The next morning, true to his word, Rakeesh has already gone by the time you wake up.  You’re free to explore the Simbani village on your own.  SAVE YOUR GAME HERE, then leave the guest hut.

When you leave the hut, you find yourself in the campfire area - this is the centre of the Simbani village.  Your hut (the guest hut) is on the left, Uhura’s hut is on the right, and the Laibon’s hut is in the middle.  You can’t enter the Laibon’s or Uhura’s hut at this point.

Sneak straight up either side of the Laibon’s hut, to meet his son, Yesufu.  Yesufu is sitting next to a big rock, with a wooden cage nearby.  However, it’s very easy to miss this area, and accidentally find yourself in one of the training areas.  If this happens, just sneak left or right to find Yesufu.  Use Talk Icon on yourself, and Greet Yesufu, then Talk About Shapier.  Now talk to him and work through all the topics.  Play a game of Awari with him.  I don’t quite understand how to play this game, but it’s useful to attempt it with Yesufu, just the same.  As you are playing, click on Yesufu’s portrait, and ask him about all the topics.  Also, click in the black area to Tell About Spielburg and Tell About Peace.

When you’ve finished talking and playing Awari with Yesufu, walk left to the spear training area.  Being a thief, you need to be able to throw well, so you can attack enemies from a distance.  SAVE YOUR GAME HERE.  Take the THROWING DAGGERS from your Inventory, and throw them at the target.  Click on the target afterwards, to retrieve them.  Keep doing this until you get tired.  When you are tired, go to the guest hut, and Rest For 60 Minutes, then return left to the spear training area.

When it gets dark, and the campfire is burning in the centre area, go and visit Uhura in her hut.  Talk to her and work through all the topics.  Now leave her hut.

Go back to your guest hut, and Sleep Til Morning.

A new day arrives in the Simbani village.  Go back to the spear training area, and spend the day practising throwing your THROWING DAGGERS at the target.

At the end of this day, the village Elder gathers everyone around the campfire, and tells the story of how their Spear Of Death was stolen.  Stay and listen to the story.  When the story is over, you automatically go back to your guest hut and sleep for the night.

When morning comes, leave your hut and SAVE YOUR GAME HERE.  Enter the Laibon’s hut - the guard lets you in this time.  Remember to be polite.  Click Talk Icon on yourself, and Greet the Laibon.  Look at the drum he has next to him.  Now talk to him and work through all the topics - make sure you ask about the spear and the drum.  The Laibon soon asks you to leave.

Go back to the spear training area, and practice throwing your THROWING DAGGERS for the rest of the day.  When evening comes, return to your hut and Sleep Till Morning.

Another morning comes.  Your Throwing Skills should be at least 215 by now.  But as a thief, you also need to be good at Acrobatics, and practice what the Rope Seller taught you.  There is a Wrestling Bridge in the village, that’s just perfect for practising.  Go to the cage area, and sneak right to the Bridge area, and SAVE YOUR GAME HERE.  This is the Wrestling Bridge, and you can practice your Balance and Acrobatic Skills here.  Climb up the bridge - Uhura will appear.  Talk to her, and work through all the topics.  Now climb up the bridge and sneak across to the other side.  Uhura now shows you the finer details of balancing on the bridge when there is someone else on there as well.  After she leaves, practise crossing the bridge a few times.  Now if you have Skill Level set to High, you will also have to practice Jumping, Ducking, Turning Left and Turning Right.  Spend a few days practising these skills.  I had Skill Level set to low, so I didn’t have to worry about this.  When you’ve had enough of the bridge, leave the area.

You’ve been in the Simbani village for a few days now, but you can‘t stay here forever!  You have a war to prevent!  Head up to the village Elder, talk to him, and work through all the topics.  SAVE YOUR GAME HERE.  Now head out into the wilderness.

WILDERNESS

The Wilderness is home to many monsters.  Since you are not a fighter, you don’t need to fight these monsters.  However, Lizardmen often carry ROYALS and COMMONS, which you need (ironically, I find the thief character the hardest to manage money with).  I recommend you seek out some Lizardmen, fight them, and then search their bodies afterwards to claim their goodies.

When you’ve had enough of fighting, head down to the Pool Of Peace at bottom of the screen.

POOL OF PEACE

This is a beautiful area, and anyone can find peace here.  It offers you another place of safety to sleep, whenever you need, and the pool heals any aches and pains you may have, as well as restoring your stamina.

Take a drink from the pool, and then fill up all your WATERSKINS from the pool.  Now SAVE YOUR GAME HERE, and head back out into the Wilderness.

WILDERNESS

Okay, you have 2 areas where you can sleep safely - the Simbani Village, and the Pool Of Peace.

Remember, Salim (from the Apothecary) told you about the Honeybird feather.  You need to find the Honeybird.  Hope you bought some HONEY from the bazaar.

In the same section as the Pool Of Peace, search the upper-left area of this map, until you find the Honeybird.  Sometimes it can be hard to find, but keep looking.  Follow it right (but don’t overtake it) twice, until it settles in the tree full of bees.  Pour some HONEY on the ground, and then leave the area, but immediately return.   The Honeybird is happily playing in the HONEY.  Approach the bird, and it will fly away, but it will leave behind a FEATHER.  Take the FEATHER, and then leave the area.

Head right into the next section of the map.

In this new section, you’ll see a giant tree in the upper-right area.  Head for that tree now.

HEART OF THE WORLD

This tree is known as The Heart Of The World, and it’s another area of safety for you.  Make your way up into the tree, and enter a cave just past the waterfall.

A sphere of energy lives in this cave.  After a few seconds, the sphere will ‘surround’ you, and tell you she is the Guardian.  When you are able, use Talk Icon on yourself, and work through all the topics.  Also, Greet, Answer Guardian, Tell About Shapier, and Tell About Water.  Make sure you ask about the GEM, and then take a GEM (but only one!) from the circle left by the Guardian.  When you’re ready, leave the cave.

Continue up the tree, until you reach the very top.  This area is another safe place to sleep, and will heal all your aches and pains, and restore your stamina.  Anyway, if you have any WATERSKINS containing water from the Pool Of Peace, pour that water onto the spiral platform, and be rewarded with a GIFT FROM THE HEART.

Check the time, and if it’s getting late, you can Sleep Till Morning.

Make your way back down to the base of the tree (remember to Sneak again), and SAVE YOUR GAME HERE.  Now head back out into the wilderness.

WILDERNESS

Go right to the next section of the map.  This is the last section.  Sneak around for a while, until you find a monkey trapped in a cage.  This is little Manu.  Free him.  He’ll run straight up into the nearest tree.  Talk to him and work through all the topics, before he leaves to return to his own monkey-village.  Leave the area.

Head left two screens, and return to the Simbani Village.

SIMBANI VILLAGE

As you enter the village, the Elder should mention that a Leapordman has been captured.  Talk to him and work through all the topics.  Now sneak down to Yesufu‘s area with the cage - sure enough, a Leapordman is being held prisoner.  Talk to Yesufu and work through all the topics.  You can try and talk to the Leapordman if you like, but he won’t talk to you.

Go down to the campfire area, and enter the Laibon’s hut - the guard lets you in this time.  Remember to be polite.  Click Talk Icon on yourself, and Greet the Laibon.  Look at the drum he has next to him.  Now talk to him and work through all the topics - make sure you ask about the spear and the drum.  The Laibon soon asks you to leave.

If you could turn the Leapordman back into a man, that would be a good chance to find the Leapordman village, and try to find peace with them.  But in order to do that, you need a DISPEL POTION.  Maybe Salim could help you out here.

There‘s nothing else you can do in the Simbani Village for now, so leave, and head down to the Pool Of Peace.

POOL OF PEACE

Take a drink of water, and fill all your WATERSKINS with water from the pool.  Check the time, and if it’s late, spend the night here.  Now SAVE YOUR GAME HERE, and head back out to the Wilderness.

WILDERNESS

Seek out some Lizardmen, fight them, and search their bodies afterwards for ROYALS and COMMONS.  When you’re ready, head left one screen, and make your way back to Tarna.

TARNA

Go up all the stairs, to the very top of the pyramid, and enter the Temple Of Sekhmet.  The statue of Sekhmet senses you have the GEM OF THE GUARDIAN, so you are given a drink that knocks you out, so you are ready to be judged.  You are asked questions, and you have to pick a symbol\answer for each question.  As a thief, answer like so:

CHOOSE THAT WHICH YOU WERE
Key

AS YOU REACH TO REPLACE THE SACRED JEWELLED STATUE…?
3.  Explain to the child that you are cleaning the idol.

CHOOSE THAT WHICH YOU ARE
Yin Yang Symbol

YOU ARE CALLED TO A DISTANT CITY
3.  Admit to the town magistrate that you are a friend.

CHOOSE THAT WHICH YOU WILL BE
Cup

THREE VEILED AND ROBES WOMAN STAND BEFORE YOU
4.  Bitter, dark liquid

You have been judged worthy.  Listen to the judgement - it is a prophecy of what is to come.

You wake up in your room in the Welcome Inn.  Go downstairs, sit on the empty cushion at the table.  The Welcome Woman will come - use Talk Icon on yourself and Order Meal.  After breakfast, stand up and leave the Welcome Inn.

Go to the Apothecary, and talk to Salim and work through all the topics.  Now use Talk Icon on yourself and Tell About everything.  Now give HEART OF THE WORLDWATER FROM POOL OF PEACEHONEYBIRD FEATHER (he gives you some HEALING PILLS as a ‘thank you‘), and VENEMOUS VINE FRUIT to Salim.  Now leave the Apothecary.

Head down the stairs on the left, and make your way into the Bazaar.  Use your COIN POUCH on the Junk Dealer.  Select BLACK BIRD and Bargain over the price.  Offer 20 COMMONS, then find a price you are both happy with, and Purchase the item.  Use your COIN POUCH on the Oil Merchant.  Select OLIVE OIL and Bargain over the price.  Offer 70 COMMONS, then find a price you are both happy with, and Purchase the item.  Now sneak down two screens.

Use your MONEY POUCH on the Meat Merchant.  Remember, this is where you can get some RATIONS dirt-cheap.  Change quantity to 30 (this should last you the rest of the game), and Bargain over the price.  And offer 1 COMMON.  The Merchant will accept, so Purchase the item.  Now sneak back up one screen, to where the Rope Merchant is.

The thief who was declared ‘Honourless’ approaches you, and asks you for help.  He wants you to meet him in the evening, after the bazaar stall-holders have left for the day.  Use Talk Icon on yourself and agree to meet with him.  Keep an eye on the time, and when evening comes, meet up with the thief in the empty bazaar.  Talk to him, and work through all the topics.  The consequences of being ‘Without Honour’ are really hitting him hard, and he’s glad to have someone to talk to.  Show some compassion - give him a MEAT JERKY RATION.  Also show him the Thief Sign.  This is all you can do him right now, so tell him Goodbye, then leave the bazaar.

Enter Kreesha & Rakeesh’s home, and find them in the back parlour (it’s so sweet to find them cuddled up like that!).  Talk to Rakeesh and work through all the topics.  Talk to Kreesha and work through all the topics.  Now use Talk Icon on yourself, and Tell About Tarna, and Tell About Prisoner.  Finally, Say Farewell to leave their room, and then leave Kreesha’s home.

Go to the Welcome Inn, and sit on the empty cushion.  The Survivor may show up as well.  Talk to the Welcome Woman and Order Meal.  After supper, talk to the Survivor, and work through all the topics.  The poor man is badly traumatised, and can’t talk for long.  When he has fallen asleep, stand up, and climb up the stairs to your room.  Click on the bed and Sleep Till Morning.

The next morning, after a peaceful night’s sleep, leave your room and go down to the restaurant area.  Sit on the empty cushion.  When the Welcome Woman comes, Order Meal.  After breakfast, stand up and leave the Welcome Inn.

Go back to the Apothecary.  Salim tells you he has the DISPEL POTIONS ready.  Click your MONEY POUCH on Salim and select DISPEL POTION.  Purchase (don’t try to Bargain) the DISPEL POTION - Salim gives you the potions for free, since he is still happy that you told him about Julanar.  Now since you are here, you should stock up on some pills.  Select HEALING PILLS, change Quantity to 2, and Bargain over the price.  Offer 5 ROYALS, then find a price you’re both happy with, and Purchase the item.  Select POISON CURE PILLS, change Quantity to 2, and Bargain over the price.  Offer 10 ROYALS, then find a price you’re both happy with, and Purchase the item.  Now leave the Apothecary.

Return to Kreesha & Rakeesh’s home, and find them in the back parlour.  Talk to Rakeesh and work through all the topics.  Talk to Kreesha and work through all the topics.  Now use Talk Icon on yourself and Say Goodbye to leave them.  Now leave their home.

Do whatever you like for today - sneak around Tarna and talk to everyone, or head off into the Wilderness to hunt monsters.  If you choose to explore the wilderness, make sure you stay close to Tarna.

Keep an eye on the time, and when evening rolls in, return to Tarna.  Go to the empty bazaar, and find the ‘Honourless’ thief in the same place you saw him before.  Use Talk Icon on yourself, and Tell About Mission.  Now give him a MEAT JERKY RATION, then leave him for today.

Go back to the Welcome Inn and sit down on the empty cushion.  When the Welcome Woman comes, use Talk Icon on yourself and Order Meal.  After supper, stand up, and climb upstairs to your room.  Click on the bed and Sleep Till Morning.

After another peaceful night’s sleep, leave your room and go down to the restaurant area.  Sit down on the empty cushion.  When the Welcome Woman comes, use Talk Icon on yourself, and Order Meal.  After breakfast, stand up and leave the Welcome Inn.

Again, do whatever you like today.  When evening comes, make your way to the empty bazaar in Tarna.  Meet up with the thief again.  Talk to him about everything.  Now use Talk Icon on yourself, and Tell About Mission then Tell About Rakeesh.  Give him a MEAT JERKY RATION.  You’ve done what you can for the thief, so leave the empty bazaar.

Enter the Welcome Inn and sit down on the empty cushion.  When the Welcome Woman comes, use Talk Icon on yourself and Order Meal.  After supper, stand up, and climb up the stairs to your room.  Click on the bed and Sleep Till Morning.

When morning arrives, leave your room and go down to restaurant area.  Sit down on the empty cushion, and when the Welcome Woman comes, Order Meal.  Now stand up and leave the Welcome Inn.

Make your way to the stairs that lead out of Tarna, and SAVE YOUR GAME HERE.  Head down the stairs, into the Wilderness.

WILDERNESS

Head right one screen, and make your way to Pool Of Peace.

POOL OF PEACE

Take a drink of water from the pool, and fill all your WATERSKINS from the pool.  Check the time, and if it’s late, Sleep Till Morning.

The next morning, SAVE YOUR GAME HERE, then head out into the Wilderness.

WILDERNESS

Go to the Simbani Village.

SIMBANI VILLAGE

Talk to the Village Elder, and work through all the topics.  Now head down into the campfire area.

Sneak up to the cage area.  If Uhura or Yesufu is guarding the Leopard man, leave, and then come back.  If a random Simbani is guarding the Leopardman, great.  Use a DISPEL POTION from Salim on the Leopardman… and he transforms into a woman.  You can try and talk to the Leopard woman if you like, but she won’t answer you.  Leave the cage area for now.

Check the time.  When it’s evening, enter Uhura’s hut.  Talk to Uhura and work through all the topics.  Now leave Uhura’s hut.

Go to your guest hut, and Sleep Till Morning, then leave the hut.

Enter Laibon’s hut, use Talk Icon on yourself, and Greet the Laibon.  Now talk to him, and work through all the topics.  When you ask about the Bride Price, he tells you he has set the Price high, to deter his son from marrying the Leopard Woman - the Bride Price is 1 FINE ROBE, 1 FINE SPEAR, and 5 ZEBRA SKINS.  Let’s go back to Tarna, and buy what we need.  Leave the Laibon’s hut, and leave the Simbani Village.

WILDERNESS

Head left, and return to Tarna.

TARNA

Make your way back to Rakeesh’s home.  You’ll find them in the parlour,  Talk to them and work through all the topics.  Now use Talk Icon on yourself and tell about everything.  Make sure to tell them about the Leapord woman.  Now leave their home.

Sneak left, so you are back in the Bazaar.  Use your MONEY POUCH on the Weapons Merchant.  Select FINE DAGGER and Bargain over the price.  Offer 8 ROYALS, then find a price you are both happy with, and Purchase the item.  Select FINE SPEAR and Bargain over the price.  Offer 8 ROYALS, then find a price you are both happy with, and Purchase the item.  Now sneak up one screen.

Use your MONEY POUCH on the Leather Merchant.  Select the ZEBRA SKIN, change the Quantity to 5, and Bargain over the price.  Offer 2 ROYALS, then find a price you are both happy with, and Purchase the item.  Since you are here, also select the WATERSKIN, change quantity to 2, and Bargain over the price.  Offer 150 COMMONS, then find a price you are both happy with, and Purchase the item.  Now leave the Leather Merchant, and head down 3 screens.

Use your MONEY POUCH on the Cloth Merchant.  Select the FINE ROBE and Purchase it (unfortunately, you can’t bargain for a better deal here).

Check the time, and if it’s getting late, wait for the stall-holders to pack up for the day, then meet with the Honorless thief.  Talk to him and give him a MEAT JERKY RATION.

Now return to the Welcome Inn, and go up to your room.  Click on the bed and Sleep Till Morning.

After a good night’s sleep, it’s time to return to the Simbani Village, and buy the Leapord Woman as a bride.  SAVE YOUR GAME HERE, then make your way down into the Wilderness.

WILDERNESS

Fight any Lizardmen you see, remembering to take their ROYALS afterwards.  Go right to the next screen, and head back to the Simbani Village.

SIMBANI VILLAGE

Enter the Laibon’s Hut, and try to give him the FINE ROBE.  If necessary, talk to him, and ask about Marriage first.  Now again, give him FINE ROBE - he will  take all the Bride Price items, and declare her your wife (does she not have any say in the matter???).  Look again at the DRUM OF PEACE.  That drum is the key to finding peace between the Simbani people and the Leapordmen.  However, as a thief, there is no option to ask the Laibon for the drum.  But that won’t stop you!  Leave the Laibon’s hut for now - we‘ll come back again when it‘s dark.

Now the Leapord woman is your wife, so you should try to make friends with her.  Sneak to the cage area, and try and talk to her, but she still won‘t reply.  Oh dear, what are you going to do?  Give her STRING OF BEADS to make her smile.  Give her WOODEN LEAPORD CARVING.  And give her FINE DAGGER.  Finally, open her cage to set her free and give her back her freedom.  Resist the temptation to follow her for now.  Stay in the village until it gets dark.

When it’s evening, and the campfire is lit, sneak to the campfire area and SAVE YOUR GAME HERE.  Now, remember that DRUM OF MAGIC the Laibon has in his hut?  It’s time to get it.

Look at Laibon’s hut (but don’t enter) until you find a crack.  This is where all your Stealth skills come in handy.  Use your FINE DAGGER to rip open the crack, then sneak into the hut and take DRUM OF MAGIC.  Now don’t leave just yet.  Notice that chest near the Laibon’s bed?  Use OIL on the chest to oil the hinges, then use your THIEVES TOOLKIT to pick the lock, then open it.  You’re rewarded with 700 COMMONS, 60 ROYALS, and a FINE DAGGER.  That’s quite a haul - nice work!  Now sneak out the hole in the hut, and return to your Guest Hut.  Now Sleep Till Morning.

You wake the next morning as the sun begins to rise.  Now you’ve had a good night’s rest, it’s time to go and find your wife, the Leopard Woman.  This could be your chance to get her side of the story, and hopefully prevent this whole war from taking place.  So head down to the campfire area, SAVE YOUR GAME HERE, then head out into the Wilderness.

WILDERNESS

Head right into the next area of the map.  Sneak around for a while, stopping at various areas of the jungle, until you sense someone is watching you.  Use Talk Icon on yourself, and then Call Out.  The Leopard Woman you freed reveals herself, and introduces herself as Johari.  Use Talk Icon on yourself, and Make Friends with her, then Tell About Drum.  She agrees to take you to her village, in the hopes of persuading her father not to start the war.

LEOPARDMEN VILLAGE

When you reach her village, use Talk Icon on yourself, and Tell About Romance, and then kiss her.  As soon as it gets dark, SAVE YOUR GAME HERE.  Johari will take you to watch the Change Ritual - where her people change from man to beast.

After the ritual, Johari will take you to an area near her father’s hut.  All that’s standing in the way of you and the hut, is a deep gap with a hungry leopard!  SAVE YOUR GAME HERE.  Throw a BEEF JERKY RATION to the leopard.  Now use your MAGIC GRAPNEL on the hut, and walk over the tightrope to the hut.  You automatically enter the hut.  Make sure you are in Sneak Mode, and SAVE YOUR GAME HERE.

Notice the monkey in the cage - open the cage to free the monkey.  Notice the chest on the left side of the hut.  Use OIL on the chest to oil the hinges, then use THIEVES TOOLKIT to pick the lock.  Now open the chest, and you’ll be rewarded with some nice goodies.  Take SPEAR OF DEATH from wall on the right, then leave the hut.

You automatically cross back over the tightrope again, back to Johari.

The next day, Johari officially introduces you to her father, chief of the village.  Give him DRUM OF MAGIC.

You automatically return to the Simbani Village.

SIMBANI VILLAGE

Everyone, including Rakeesh, is gathered in the campfire area, and you give the SPEAR OF DEATH back to the Laibon.  The Laibon now agrees to a Peace Conference between his people and the Leopardmen people.  Things are finally looking up!

Rakeesh takes you back to Tarna, via a magic portal.

TARNA

You’re in the Hall Of Judgement, where the Peace Conference is taking place.  Things are going well… until Rakeesh gets a bad feeling that something terrible is about to happen.  No sooner has he said that, then the Leopardman Chief will attack the Simbani Laibon with a spell, knocking him to the floor.  Yesufu, the Laibon’s son, retaliates by  throwing his spear at the Leopardman Chief.  Only Rakeesh (he is a Paladin, after all) sees the demon leave the Leopardman’s body.  So demons ARE behind this feud!  Before things descend into total chaos, Rakeesh tells you to leave Tarna, and find the demons, before war is declared.

You’re now forced out into the Wilderness, unable to enter Tarna again.  You’re not welcome in the Simbani Village either, now.

WILDERNESS

SAVE YOUR GAME HERE.  Head right to the next screen, and make your way to the Pool Of Peace.

POOL OF PEACE

It’s probably dark by now, so Sleep Till Morning.  In the morning, take a drink from the Pool, and make sure all your WATERSKINS are full.  Now leave the Pool, and head back out to the Wilderness.

WILDERNESS

Sneak right into the next screen.  Make your way to the Heart Of The World.  Before you can reach the tree, little Manu will appear, wanting to take you to his Monkey-Village.  Talk to him and ask him about the Village.  Now use Talk Icon on yourself and Agree to go to the Village with Manu.

MONKEY VILLAGE

When you are near his village, talk to Manu and work through all the topics.  Now climb up the tree.

Okay, now you are up in the trees, which is Manu’s village.  And as you’d expect, it’s rather small.  Talk to Manu and work through all the topics.  Now use Talk Icon on yourself and Tell About Lost City, then Convince Manu to take you there, then Persuade Manu.  Finally, despite his fear, he agrees to take you to the Lost City.

WATERFALL

Before you reach the Lost City, you have the slight problem of a waterfall blocking your way.  How are you going to cross it?  The monkeys can simply jump across, but you cannot.  It shouldn’t be a problem for a thief of your skills, though.  Simply use your MAGIC GRAPNEL on the other side of the waterfall, then click on the tightrope to walk over it.  Now SAVE YOUR GAME HERE.

You and Manu will continue your journey to The Lost City.  Until you come across the Demon Worm.

DEMON WORM

A Demon Worm appears.  Fight it and defeat it.  Now continue to The Lost City.

LOST CITY

Finally you arrive at The Lost City.  SAVE YOUR GAME HERE.  Manu is afraid, and wants to go back to the safety of his monkey-village.  But you refuse to go back.  Talk to Manu and work through all the topics.  Use Talk Icon on yourself and Tell About Honour.  Now sneak down into the City.

When the apeman passes, look at door with the jackal man.  You get a close-up view of the door.  Remembering what Manu said, place FIRE OPAL in the eye, and the door will open.  Sneak through the door.

SAVE YOUR GAME HERE.  There are 2 demons here, and one of them is very eager for a fight.  However, you are not a fighter.  Just sneak past the demons, use OIL on the door behind them, then use your THIEVES TOOLKIT to pick the lock.  Now open the door, and sneak on through.

You’re in another room now, and there’s a liontaur here.  Wait… this is Reeshaka, Rakeesh’s daughter.  Unfortunately, Reeshaka is taken over by a demon at this point.  Any harm you do to the demon, will harm Reeshaka, so DON’T attack!  You should still have a DISPEL POTION left, so use DISPEL POTION on the demon\Reeshaka.  It will weaken her and knock her unconscious, but at least she’ll be free of the demon.

All the friends you’ve made up until this point make an appearance, thanks to a magic portal - Uhura, Rakeesh,  the thief, Johari, Yesufu, even Manu.  Rakeesh is overjoyed to see his daughter again.  With 4 friends by your side, the ancient prophecy is fulfilled.

All of you walk into a twisted Hall Of Mirrors, and you’re each faced with an evil version of yourselves, which you all must fight.  You have no hope of defeating your evil counterpart, and when you are starting to lose, the thief returns to take your place, so that you can face off against the Demon Wizard.

You race up into the tower.  SAVE YOUR GAME HERE.

Sneak up to the pillar and climb up it.  Throw your MAGIC GRAPNEL to pillar across the gap, and then walk over the tightrope.  The Demon Wizard will notice you, and create a fire on the pillar you are standing on.  Throw MAGIC GRAPNEL to pillar on the very right of the screen.  Start to walk across the tightrope, but the Demon Wizard will set fire to your rope.  But that won’t stop you.  Click on pillar on the very right (where your MAGIC GRAPNEL is attached to), and when you reach the fire, you automatically jump over it.  When you have reached the pillar, throw MAGIC GRAPNEL at the wizard.  It will embed itself into his skull, making him stagger backwards into the vortex.  As he does so, he knocks the Gate Orb, thus closing the vortex, sealing himself on the other side.

You automatically head back down the stairs, to where your friends are waiting for you.

Watch the final cutscene.  Congratulations, you have been a true hero!

But just when you think all’s well that ends well… some unknown dark magic takes a hold of you.  What could this mean?  All will be revealed in the next game.

The End!
